I walked home from work today, possibly for the first time since December. The sidewalks were clear and dry - it was too cold for anything to be slippery, though much warmer than yesterday and warmer than this morning. "Warm" is a relative term - keep in mind that I was wearing three or four layers of clothing, counting my down-filled coat. The sun was bright though not warm, and there was a violet-and-orange sunset in the west. People were skating on the canal; it was pretty much a perfect winter day.

It's sunny but frosty here - first frost we've had for a while. The birds are singing and twittering.

Birds? My goodness! The only birds I know are indoors, and glad to be there. No birds out there in the big cold snowy world right now, unless you count bird-shaped ice sculptures.

I'll do that. I don't think Logan likes this cold weather. I fear he blames me. Perhaps I should be knitting him little woolly socks.

Yes, that'd do it. Or put a little space-heater, budgie-sized, into the cage for him to warm his pinfeathers at.

What, you still have pigeons? In this weather? With your high-altitude wind-chill?

Are pigeons related to cockroaches? Will nothing finish them off?
