Another quiz from [livejournal.com profile] kikibug13 - with pretty much the answer I was hoping for:

You scored as Lestat de Lioncourt. You are Lestat, the rebellou type who does not believe the rules apply to him, the centre of attention while others find your charismatic nature to be very magnetic. You have no problem expressing you opinions openly.

The next book: they haven't released the title to the media yet, but I'm sure it's going to be Spherissa the So Very Damned.

I wouldn't mind scoring as David Talbot. Maharet... hmm. Maybe. I haven't read "Pandora".

I must admit I have quite a crush on David. And Lestat. If I recall Pandora go ton my nerves but I haven't read Rice in a long long time.

MMmm nice! *admires* :) (well, I'm doing Lestat in the Torchwood RPG, so... :) I don't feel too much behind.) Gah, he's amazing...
Oh, and for various reasons I'm doing him as the Queen of the Damned version ;)

How's the weekend? I see you're drabbling... I'll read them when I've done at least post for the challenge; I usually try to stick to that, just so that I'm clear on which ideas are mine and which aren't :)

Strikes me that Captain Jack and Lestat are very, very like each other.

Mmm, nothing wrong with that!

I usually try to stick to that, just so that I'm clear on which ideas are mine and which aren't :)

Good thought. I'm trying to write "one thing per day" and so far I've only had time for drabbles and first drafts of longer stuff. And a steno pad full of ficlets, snippets and notes.

Better do something for today. Hmm... A chance remark on one of the Torchwood communities got me thinking about a naked Jack, maybe I can work from that.

Captain Jack and Lestat - oh yes. Only Lestat sort of has a tad more superhuman powers, not just regeneration ;) Well, and quite possibly Lestat is actually younger - I have no idea, really. But yep. They are alike. (we also got, yesterday, Giacomo Casanova from the production with David Tennant... lotsa lover boys, in various ways :)

Writing one thing per day is a bit much for me these days. I really have to get around to finishing work on time so I have time for life. Well, on the other hand, I'm actively RP-ing, which though not quite the same as writing, does count as creative outlet.

And... I believe I don't *need* chance remarks to get me thinking about a naked Jack. His own are quite enough (thinking of "tell Owen he needs to work on those abs some more" at the moment... ) *grins* Love that character.

Oh, and I think I'll finally watch the HP and the Prisoner... Why now? Because I learned who's playing Barty Crouch Jr. just the other day. You know, the story didn't make me see it yet. Two other actors whom I admire didn't. But currently David Tennant is way too much of a pull for me to resist...

While Jack drinks water, not blood. Still. They have a similar charisma, a similar strong-mindedness, a similar confidence in their own judgement.

Well, on the other hand, I'm actively RP-ing, which though not quite the same as writing, does count as creative outlet.

yes - similar but different.

I think I'll finally watch the HP and the Prisoner... Why now? Because I learned who's playing Barty Crouch Jr. just the other day.

I've been wanting to see it again. I know I have friends who own the movie. I saw it before I'd ever seen Tennant as Doctor Who - I admired him in the role, and quite liked him, but didn't have the passion for him that I do now.

currently David Tennant is way too much of a pull for me to resist...

Exactly!

If I had the choice to be any vampire at all, I'm not sure which one I'd choose. I know if I had a choice to know any vampire at all I'd choose Spike, but ... I wouldn't want to be him. Lestat I suppose is as good a choice as any.

If I had the choice to be any vampire at all, I'm pretty sure it won't be an Anne Rice one.

And the typos, oh, the typos, they sting.

Not sure why, I never quite got on with Anne Rice's books. I think the vampire I always loved (as opposed to wanted to be) was Lefanu's Carmilla. The ending of the story, when Laura is half-hoping she might hear her footsteps again is heartbreaking. I also loved Gloria Holden as Marya in the 1930s film Dracula's Daughter.

I never saw "Dracula's Daughter". (There are so few old movies in my repertoire!) I read Interview with a Vampire in the late 1970s or early 1980s, and loved it, and then went on a vampire-story reading spree - there were no other Anne Rice vampire novels then, but it was just at the beginning of the Doeg Moench/Gene Colan comic book series Tomb of Dracula, which was excellent - or so I thought at the time. Well. Moench/Colan, of course it was good. I also read Dracula at about that time, and the Chelsea Quinn Yarbro "St. Germain" novels, and... what else? Well, the further Anne Rice novels, but I liked each of them less than the one before, and pretty much stopped reading them when it came to the Mayfair witches series - where I think I read the first two, and that was already way after my level of enjoyment had plummeted. Though I rather liked "Rameses the Damned", probably because of the inclusion of Cleopatra.

So. Haven't read Anne Rice in years, may never again, but never say never. My favourite of her books by far were not anything about vampires or the supernatural, but her historical novels Cry From Heaven (about a 177th century Italian castrato) and Feast of All Saints (about free black in New Orleans c. 1820).

I'm not sure what my level of subjectivity here is. I have in the last decade become extremely uninterested in vampires or any type. My perception is that Anne Rice's earliest books were good, her later books are not, but that may be totally wrong.

Are you a Lestat/Louis fan?

No. I am a Lestat fan. Don't much like Louis at all, except insofar as I liked Interview with a Vampire (the book, I mean, not the movie so much) and Louis was an important part of the book.

Louis was the contrary of Lestat...I loved the book and I liked the movie; it was the first time I found out about fan writing.Another Anne Rice's vampire novels aren't that good.Strange, but she never achieved this decadent mood again.

Louis was the contrary of Lestat...

That he was. And I liked Lestat's characteristics better, though Louis was interesting to read about.

Another Anne Rice's vampire novels aren't that good.

That was the best, certainly. I rather liked The Tale of the Body Thief and Rameses the Damned... also her historical novels. But the other vampire novels and the Mayfair witches novels were less interesting.

I confess, it's a long time since I've read the book, and my impression now may be based as much on Brad Pitt and the movie than my memory of the book. And I think I did like book-Louis, I just thought he paled in comparison with the resplendent Lestat. (As if he played Will Scott to Lestat's Lymond - and no, you don't need to understand that.)
