MY TOP TEN FAVOURITE TORCHWOOD MOMENTS
10. Jack tries to save the hand (Day One)
9. Jack on the rooftops (Everything Changes)
8. Jack tranfers his thoughts to Tosh's mind (Greeks Bearing Gifts)
7. Jack sticks a gun in Ianto's face and threatens him (Cyberwoman)
6. Jack washes Gwen's hand (End of Days)
5. The stopwatch scene (They Keep Killing Suzie)
4. The gun room scene (Ghost Machine)
3. The hug scene when Jack returns from death (End of Days)
2. Jack dances with Jack (Captain Jack Harkness)
and best of all:
1. Jack hears the TARDIS (End of Days)
A few notes on these choices:
1. This was supposed to be roughly in order of preference (and it sort of is) but I think all I have really proved is the impossibility of making such a list. There are too many great moments. And I kept wanting to shoehorn Det. Swanson's scene in there. Think of this as a work in progress.
2. Each scene I listed involves Jack. Okay, okay, no surprise....
3. They're all delightfully sexy (which is directly related to note #1).
4. When I mention the scene where "Jack dnaces with Jack" I'm really, in my mind, including the kiss and the whole extended scene to the end of the episode where Tosh says Jack would be proud of our Jack.
5. Though I think of "End of Days" as a problematic episode - I have a love/hate relationship with it - I note that it is the only episode in which I have listed no less than three favourite moments.

I didn't notice jack wash gwen's hand,
I'm not sure why but that seems to me as sexy as the gun room scene. I love it.

Date: 2007-01-23 06:03 pm (UTC)It also so ties up with Gwen getting hysterical on Jack, then him subduing her, and then Owen trying to approach and her "Don't touch me!"
*sighs* Another thing to look for on re-watching...

As I see it, those two points go together! Jack=sexy
You've got me thinking now - I might have to go and watch the whole series again to pick!

I might have to go and watch the whole series again to pick!
Yes - do it! I'd love to see your choices.

Date: 2007-01-23 08:37 pm (UTC)I totaly agree i loved the hand washing it was like Jack was the only person she would let near her!

Date: 2007-01-23 08:44 pm (UTC)It is - so many emotions, so powerfully put across. I suppose I'm using the dancing as a sort of short-hand to include the kissing, and even the end of the episode where Tosh says that Jack would have been proud of our Jack, and they toast him.
it was like Jack was the only person she would let near her!
Uh-huh. As if she accepted him so completely it was as if he wasn't there - as if it was his place to take care of her, keep her clean, help her when she couldn't help herself in basic ways.
good job!
A labour of love, I assure you.
That's a great icon there.

Date: 2007-01-24 05:26 am (UTC)I do agree with the TARDIS one.... I actually squeed so badly my mum came through to find out wtf I was doing.

Date: 2007-01-24 02:58 pm (UTC)First time or second time? I also like the moment - not a favourite, but a good one - in Countrycide in which neither Jack nor Ianto mentions that first kiss. (First that we saw, anyway. I know some fans think they had something going before that.)
Jack Kissing Jack (that whoooole dance/kiss thing),
Yeah. Wonderful, all of it.
Jack Kissing Ianto again
Ah, right, both times are delicious.
I'm really not a Gwen fan... But I do love the gun room scene. mostly for gratuitous Jack.
I am a Gwen fan at least part of the time, but the gun room scene is pure quality Jack.
I actually squeed so badly my mum came through to find out wtf I was doing.
LOL. I hope you reassured her.

Date: 2007-01-24 06:36 am (UTC)That's so often true, isn't it? An episode may not work, but have brilliant moments. Or it may be a brilliant episode, but not have a lot of really stellar individual moments

Date: 2007-01-24 03:07 pm (UTC)Yes. It's an episode I find difficult to watch over again in its entirety - well, I've watched the last section a few dozen times I'm sure, but I cringe away from the earlier happenings. And yet there are good lines (like Jack's "Under any other circumstances, an exuberant Roman soldier would be my idea of a perfect morning.") and great moments and in theory I love the notion of Jack going alone to face an evil entity and sacrifice himself for mankind. In theory.... It must be a powerful episode to have me feel so conflicted about it!

Date: 2007-01-24 01:36 pm (UTC)I might have moved Jack saving the Doctor's hand higher than Jack washing Gwen's hand though. I felt the scene with Gwen was a little off, but maybe because I was still in shock over poor Rhys. It seemed to be an odd gesture to half-heartedly clean her hand when her boyfriend was lying soaked in blood just in front of her. But I guess he felt there was nothing else he could do.

Date: 2007-01-24 02:51 pm (UTC)Torchwood is All About Jack
Yes - as it should be.
The order I put things in didn't work very smoothly. The hand-saving scene really is one of my favourites. The hand-washing scene... didn't strike me as half-hearted, it struck me as having deep psychological and symbolic implications, all of which I liked. At that point there was nothing anyone could do, so the others were standing around feeling bad, but Jack actually did something that (however subtly) helped Gwen.
