Since the day I first set up this LJ, I hadn't done anything with my rather dull initial design. I realized this week that I desperately wanted a change. The lovely and talented [livejournal.com profile] isagel was kind enough to design a Captain Jack Harkness banner for me - which I love with a passion. [livejournal.com profile] isagel, how can I thank you? what can I do in return? your wish is my command!

I was so tired last night I fell asleep right after CBC aired Doctor Who, still exhausted with this virus - and I wasn't even watching it on the local channel, this was the 7 pm show from Halifax. Then I woke up around midnight and spent a few hours learning how to redesign LJ pages. I failed on a few things - couldn't find a way to use the banner with the layout I really wanted. No big deal. In fact, I had a few spectacular artistic failures. But I learned (more or less) how to do it.

So here it is. I may tweak more. I may change my mind. At one stage I made it fancier, then decided that I wanted something a little more plain, halfway to stark - much more my natural style.

And it's so deliciously fannish.

*grins* Who wouldn't? :)

BTW... in the RPG... Jack and Rose got reunited with Jack too. If you would like to, I can link both threads. ;)

Jack and Rose got reunited with Jack too.

Happy smile at the very idea. Is this Nine or Ten? Is Rose back from the other dimension, or did all that never happen?

Ten. Through some mishap in space and time which surprised the Doctor no end, she popped up in the TARDS... about a year after The Runaway Bride.

After they'd spent some time together, they aimed for London for some chips (and, knowing the precision with which the Doctor ends up where he means to, it's no surprise that they ended up in Cardiff).

A wonderful development! I'm sure the chips are good in Cardiff, too.

Well, according to the Doctor's nose, they should be OK. But who cares? Jack felt the proximity of "the right kind of doctor" and was up and out of the Hub by the time they reached the Millennium Center square. Rose leaped on him with such energy that I don't think he had the time to think about the Doctor looking different... (but the Doctor did mention his regeneration and things going wrong with it anyway, eventually).

Sounds about right! I'm sure Jack's alien tech scanning devices are all primed to go ballistic as soon as there's a whif of TARDIS energy or any hint of Time Lord anywhere around. You know Jack's motto: "You gotta be ready."

Lucky Jack, lucky Rose, lucky Doctor.

So glad you like it!

It really makes me realize how tired I was of the same old layout all this time. I liked it. I was used to it. But enough is enough.

Yes, isn't it? The credit is to [livejournal.com profile] isagel of course, who made beautiful art out of my rather inchoate visual ideas. I am quite thrilled by it. I keep sneaking over to my LJ just to look at it.

It's very pretty!

The only thing I'm not quite sure about is the brown background - might I suggest a lovely pale blue that would echo the colours of the pic while still allowing black text to be read easily?

So what do you think of this design? I saved a copy of the old one, but wasn't satisfied enough to leave it alone. You'll note I still haven't used much blue, except in the header: when I used more blue - my favourite colour, as you probably recall - I thought it looked like too much blue, and took away from the impact of the header.

Right. That's unconvincing, isn't it? What could take away from the impact of Captain Jack and the Doctor? No mere colour, not even blue...!

Ooooh. New header so pretty. So pretty, in fact, that I had to go find an icon with that cap of Jack. Wow.
