I got this question-meme from [livejournal.com profile] gem225. Answering it looks like more fun than working on the bank statement. I abridged this list because some of the questions don't apply. I even changed the grammar on some of the questions just because I could.

1. Can you cook? Yes. My mother hated cooking; I loved it from an early age and took over the household cooking chores when I was about twelve. I still love to cook, but do it less than I used to, because I don't have the time. It's an indulgence.
2. What would you do if you were stuck in an elevator? Read.
3. What talent do you wish you had? I wish I had fluent command of French, Italian, Spanish, Occitaine, Classical Latin, Medieval Latin and Ancient Greek. Since I'm wishing, I'll throw in Old English as well.
4. Favorite places? Assisi, Italy. Roslin Chapel, Scotland. The Isle of Hoy, Scotland. Penzance, England. Fort Sant'Angelo, Malta. Pointe au Baril, Ontario, Canada.
5. Favorite vegetable? Asparagus.
6. What was the last book you read? Blue Screen by Robert B. Parker. Currently reading I, Lucifer by Glen Duncan.
7. Are you Dirty or Clean? Clean.
8. Tattoos and/or Piercings? Pierced ears.
9. What's your worst habit? Procrastination.
10. What's your philosophy of life? The meaning of life is whatever meaning we choose to give it. The purpose of life is to improve it for others.
11. Negative or Optimistic? Optimistic.
12. What was your dream growing up? To write.
13. Worst thing to ever happen to you? Loss of the people I loved.
14. Tell me one weird fact about you: I like butterscotch flavour more than chocolate.
15. If you had one day to live, what would you do? Write.
16. If you had a million bucks.. what would you do with it? Invest it, and buy a house.
17. What is your worst fear? Poverty. Or not accomplishing what I want to.
18. Favorite thing to do in your spare time? Write.
19. Can you sing or dance? Well, yes, but what kind of quality of singing and dancing do you want? I avoid doing either when others are around, though I'm getting bolder with time. I am not another John Barrowman.

Drawing or painting

Oh yes, me too. (Even though that isn't what I answered.) I have such admiration for artists and especially for illustrators - and now I wish I had the artistic talents to make clever icons and banners and wallpapers for online use. But, I tell myself philosophically, there isn't enough time in life to develop every talent ... right?

You know, I've been to so many cities in England, but I never made it to Worcester. Why do you love it?

I thought Eleven on Top was wonderful.

What is a three day eventer?

currently being made redundant feels pretty crap.

I can imagine. Hang in there! This too shall pass.

I'm wearing a pink jumper that moults all over my trousers.

LOL. You could try wearing pink trousers so it wouldn't show.

there isn't enough time in life to develop every talent

So true - it's been hard but I've accepted that I have no artistic talent and instead appreciate other peoples (including icons!).

Why do I love Worcester? Well, it's very pretty, has lots of history and enough good restaurants, bars, cinemas and shopping to mean that I don't need to go anywhere else. It's also surrounded by some of the loveliest countryside you'll find anywhere (although I am biased as I grew up around here). Lying in bed listening to the cathedral bells ringing on Sunday morning is good too.

I wanted to be a three day eventer during my horse-y phase growing up. That's where competitors do dressage, cross country and showjumping over three days on the same horse. It's all about versatility and discipline, but I was never going to be that good!

I can imagine. Hang in there! This too shall pass.

Thanks - I've surprised myself with how well I'm coping, so it's all good life experience. I'm a great believer that you have to be tested to find out about yourself, even though my laziness means I don't test myself often enough. Lol

I'm going to draw the line at the pink trousers though ;)

I've accepted that I have no artistic talent

I have always belivved that talent can be developed and that I have an artistic eye. In recent years my confidence on the matter has waned - it may be that I just love art, without much artistic judgement. I don't know. But I do love visual media.

You make Worcester sound lovely. Okay, I'll try to make a point of visiting it some day.

Thanks for explaining three-day eventers! I've heard the phrase, but couldn't place it.

No, I don't really test myself enough, either.

No pink trousers? It would look as if you were wearing pajamas. The Doctor saved the world in pajamas. No shame in that!
