Don't encourage me. I am a compulsive reviser. I even go to great (obsessive) care to go back and revise single words in stories that I have already posted to multiple sites if I think another word is better. I have trouble stopping at three or six or nine drafts of things. At some point, one has to stop, and move onwards.

And when I do, I'm still thinking, "Just one more little change to make it better...."

If only we could retcon the aired episodes to go the way we want them to!

And I suppose it's a marvellous metaphor for the writing process. We are retconning little bits of continuity (by elaboration or by choosing what material to include and exclude) to suit ourselves in our stories.

I'm very happy with this. Excuse me while I dash off and retcon the whole of Torchwood continuity so Jack will end up with the Doctor.

Oh. Wait. They did that for me already.
