You could check with the university library but odds are they purchase according to their faculty.
Yes. They do have some very good and useful books. No real complaints there. But they don't have everything.
Yes, sometimes I can get books on ILL, but that sometimes costs a lot, too, especially with rare books, or books which aren't held in any library in Canada.
Libraries just can't invest in something that maybe only one person would check out.
There are several books at the Carleton University library that I believe I am the only one who has ever checked them out since their acquisition - maybe 60 years ago. One book I got out a year or so ago, had a postcard in it as a bookmark. It was a postcard I'd received in about 1983. I'm pretty sure no one had checked out that book except me, ever. (It's written in Palestinian Old French. Don't see why that should discourage folks.)
We should open a library funded by lit addicts and buy all kinds of rare books.
When construction started, we weeded out a lot of our collection (for storage) that had hardly ever been checked out. It was amusing to see what had been and what hadn't.
Aren't you exhausted? Haven't you been up since like 3am?
Yes I have been up since 3 a.m. Yes I am pretty close to exhausted and planning to go to bed with some fanfic very soon now. Am I still making sense? My keyboard is slurring.
Yes, I worked. I didn't get a lot done but I got some things done. Kept forgetting words, but I managed okay. My deposit record added up right the first time. Yay!
