Budgies...
Dec. 10th, 2006 07:33 pmI got a new budgie today. Logan was so very lonely....
So I went with
I picked one of the blues and named him Remy. X-Men fans will know why.
I put him into the cage with Logan and there has been a long silence - lasting about six hours now. They are eying each other from opposite corners of the cage like two gunslingers in a bar in a western.

How long does it usually take birds to get to know each other?
I looked up 'Remy' and 'X-Men' on Google. That's sweet - to name him after Gambit, but not in such a way as he's a 'replacement' (because they are all individuals)!

Date: 2006-12-11 02:00 pm (UTC)You'll get them! There were a few chirps from the cage before I went to bed - I couldn't tell who was chirping (I think it might have been Remy, as the tone was unfamiliar). I didn't want to go too close to find out - that would make them self-conscious.
This morning they were sitting like statues on their respective perches. Of course, they may simply have been sleepy and not believing me that it was morning already. It was still quite dark at 7.15 a.m.

When Gambit - who was green - was around in the same cage, Logan seemed very blue and I described him as blue. Now that Gambit is gone, Logan seems increasingly turqoise and I'm wondering why I ever thought he was blue.
Remy is a mellow blue, unambiguously. But maybe an even greater difference visually is that he has black stripes from the forehead back. Logan's head is yellow, with black stripes starting way on the back of his head, almost from the nape.
Yes, definitely I need to set up a budgie session of modelling for photos!

He sounds adorable, anyway - I do hope they get on! Tweets to both boys!

Date: 2006-12-11 10:27 pm (UTC)I just got home. There's no chirping yet, but there has been some movement in the cage... Ah! As I typed that, one of them started to sing a little. Wait till they wake up more, I think they might be ready to talk to one another, budgie-style.
