Heroes: Fallout...

With most TV shows, especially the ones I most love, I fall in love with a character and focus fiercely on him - a favourite character who just makes the show for me. With Torchwood, it's Captain Jack. With Veronica Mars, it's Logan, though Veronica herself, and the good dialogue, does a lot to keep me interested. With Smallville, it's Lex Luthor. With Firefly, it was Mal Reynolds. With Doctor Who, it's the Doctor (with a grin and a nod to Captain Jack there, too).
I didn't have a favourite in Heroes until recently, but I think over the last couple of weeks I've come to love Peter Petrelli, liking his scenes more than anyone else's. I still love Mohindar, but he seems to be peripheral at present, and I'm starting to love most of the characters as I know them more - Clare is really growing on me, and DL. A few specific comments about Fallout:
Interesting stuff:
1. Peter's scene in the street, with the others there. Wow. One of the things I love about Peter is that it isn't always clear whose powers he is channelling. I must say, though, I'm not impressed with the fannish tendency to slash Peter with Nathan, because I think Nathan is a first-class creep. Slash Peter with anyone else - anyone! Please!
2. Loved the Haitian talking to Clare. (And here we were led to believe he was mute!)
3. Scary, very scary, the way Mr. Bennet was erasing memories. Is Eden redeemable and good at heart, or horrifically bad?
4. So Isaak can paint the future without drugs. Way to go.
5. Sylar is scary too. I'm still unclear on the parameters of his powers.
6. Love the way Peter's powers, in when he was with Matt and when the Haitian was nearby, set up a sort of feedback loop.
7. Not much Nathan this time. Or Hiro. But as always, the bits with Hiro were very, very cute.
8. I like the way we have learned more about Jessica and Niki. Loved the scene where Jessica looked in the car window and saw Niki watching her, a reversal of what we have usually seen.
9. I really like Clea Duvall's role and I hope she stays in the story.
10. By what perverse cruelty do I actually want Matt's marriage to break up? Why don't I like his wife, when he clearly loves her so much?
11. We haven't seen much of Simone lately. I like Simone.
12. I'm still looking for some gay character (besides Zak) as advertised - and I don't see one anywhere.

I'm not the only one who feels this way, thank God. He's better off with his new FBI partner (can't remember her name, but it's the blonde girl) if worse comes to worst. At this point, I think what keeps me from liking Matt even more is his clinginess (for lack of a better term) to his wife.
Eh... I guess I'm just not forgiving when it comes to spouses having affairs (actually, even before we find out about her affair, I never really liked her for whatever reason).

Date: 2006-12-05 12:02 pm (UTC)Sounds good to me! Got any URLs to point me to?
I can understand Nathan but not necessarily like him.
Yes. I find him two-faced. I find it interesting though that the more he tries to give his family priority, the less it works out that way.
He's better off with his new FBI partner
Yes, I really like them as character contrasts.

Yes, I agree. I can't put my finger on why she's unlikable, but there's something about her that puts me off.

Date: 2006-12-05 05:26 pm (UTC)And, yes, I want the marriage to break up too. I like cop guy, and I adore Chloe Duvall, so I'm all for pairing them, especially since it strengthens the chances of her staying around. The scene with the Haitian and Claire was great. Poor Claire losing her only friend! I think she's the only cheerleader I've ever liked...
And perhaps Chris Eccleston can be the gay boy ;)

Date: 2006-12-05 05:51 pm (UTC)That would be so cute it would be mind-boggling. And personally I'd like it. I'd like Hiro with anyone. Poor Ando, though, sharing him with an American hero!
I don't like Milo as much on this as I did on Gilmore Girls.
I never saw him on Gilmore Girls. Was he a regular?
I like Peter, but he *does* need to whine less.
I've barely registered his whining. I think his only problem is his brother, but that's pretty cool too.
Mohinder is still absolutely gorgeous though he isn't doing all that much at the moment.
Yes - I want more Mohindar, more Mohindar plot, more action!
I like cop guy, and I adore Chloe Duvall, so I'm all for pairing them
I think I am, but at present it's more that I'd like to see a lot of long-drawn-out UST between them.
specially since it strengthens the chances of her staying around.
Yes, that too, she is terrific. It makes me nervous that they keep calling her a guess star.
perhaps Chris Eccleston can be the gay boy ;)
Eeee what a beautiful thought.

Date: 2006-12-05 06:03 pm (UTC)~hehe There's enough cute to go around!~
I never saw him on Gilmore Girls. Was he a regular?
~Yes, and he did a brief cameo again last season. He played Jess, who dated Rory for quite awhile and then left town... much to the dismay of most fans.~
I think I am, but at present it's more that I'd like to see a lot of long-drawn-out UST between them.
~But of course! What's a decent romantic pairing without angst? :P ~

and then left town
okay, not-so-lucky Rory.
What's a decent romantic pairing without angst? :P ~
I like it all ways - with our without angst - I think I just think that Matt is beautifully suited to angst and delayed gratification.

Date: 2006-12-10 03:25 am (UTC)Zack.
and also the Cops (both of them)
Yes. I like them both in different ways. They keep listing Chloe Duvall as a 'guest star' and I keep fearing that means they'll write her out, but so far so good.
I like ordinary people doing their best against the odds
Mohindar seems pretty ordinary... I like the way it isn't always clear who has a power and who doesn't. Keeps me guessing. And with every episode, it's a little more clear.

Date: 2006-12-10 12:22 pm (UTC)It seems to me likely that they will. More so than with Claire's mother and brother.
I like Mohinder, but preferred him in the early eps when he seemed to have more to do.
Indeed. At the moment, I wonder why he's around. Presumably he will have a role other than just being Suresh's son - eventually. I like the boy he knows with the dream powers.
I liked Nikki more earlier on, but her plotline is running into the sand a bit.
Yes. I got kind of bored with Niki about three weeks ago. Micah and DL are still interesting, but Niki seems like a bit of a broken record and learning about her father didn't help. Ditto Jessica.
I find Hiro rather annoying, but less so than previously.
I love Hiro. He's fun. I look forward to future-Hiro, with the sword.
I think I'm going to get bored of Syler pretty soon, which is a shame.
I don't think Sylar will be around for long. I think he's the villain for this story arc and will be dealt with. He's very annoying, but villains are supposed to be. I wish I could figure out what his powers are!

Date: 2006-12-10 02:20 pm (UTC)Ooh ooh, I can do this one! He's like a super Nathan - he takes on the powers of those around him by killing them and then somehow absorbing their powers. The longer his killing spree goes on, the more powerful he becomes. At least, that's what I inferred from the last ep I saw (when he breaks the glass at the end)

Date: 2006-12-10 03:32 pm (UTC)So... each person he kills, he absorbs their power? That makes sense, in a creepy sort of way. So ... Why does he take their brain?
