fajrdrakoAs you might guess if you know me, I've been reading a lot of Torchwood and Doctor Who fanfic lately. I figure it's time to make a few recommendations. As usual, there are many stories who read as if they were written by teenagers without much life experience, or people who don't know how to use an apostrophe, and stories that just don't have the punch they might have. I find that Doctor Who fandom is rather too full of gen stories, and with Torchwood we need a few more episodes under our belts before we can really get to the substantial, meaty characterization.
This being said, here are stories I think are worthy of recommendation:

But this is one of the few stories I have seen that in my judgement gets the Doctor's sexuality right - he isn't inhibited or shy, and he certainly isn't asexual; he approaches sex with the same enthusiastic curiosity as he does everything else. I liked this one (http://www.whofic.com/series.php?seriesid=296) so far, but Im not horribly keen on how they paint Rhys. I don't get the feeling he's an insensitive jerk from the series, so much as he's just clueless.
this one (http://www.whofic.com/viewstory.php?sid=8707&warning=NC-17) was good, and IIRC, the only thing that bugged me was the ocassional misuse of the word "defiantely". :)
Truth in Time (http://www.whofic.com/viewstory.php?sid=8651&warning=Adult) - no noteable grammar mistakes or anything like that, that I noticed.
And that's what I have so far. Pretty paltry, eh?

I'm not sure why that pairing has really taken hold of me, since Im usually all about the slash and up till now I've been all about the Jack/Doctor/Rose OT3, but I rather like Jack and Gwen together.

Or if I may be really blunt, I think Gwen and Jack are both incredibly sexy and I don't think Ianto is.

Well, yes, me too. Usually. I was pondering that this afternoon as I washed dishes. To my mind, Jack's major love was the Doctor and Rose - and that still has a strong hold on his psyche. But Jack is affectionate, highly sexed, and coping with life in the present as it is, not as he'd like to be. And as I see it, the really hot relationship going in his life right now is with Gwen. (Yes, he kissed Ianto, but I'm still reserving judgement on that. His non-kissing of Gwen remains hotter and more interesting. And she kissed him, and she's the one he confides in and trusts as he does no one else.)
You can pair Jack with anybody, but compared to his sparky friendship with Gwen, being all over her in the gun room - and didn't that make them both giddy with joy? - I don't anything nearly as interesting as his relationship with Gwen.
up till now I've been all about the Jack/Doctor/Rose OT3, but I rather like Jack and Gwen together.
There are enough polyamorous angles going on here, I don't feel I'm abandoning Jack/Doctor/Rose if I go for Jack/Gwen. We still don't know where the canon will take us.

Yes, well, I thought it was pretty sexy but still not interesting enough to make me want to pursue the Jack/Ianto thing particularly. (Though I have a Jack/Ianto pwp in my head that I might write, if I think it's worth it. Which so far I don't.) And it clearly was an energy transfer to revive him because Ianto was unconscious through the whole kiss, which takes away from the general sexiness.

Well, yes, that's it. It's hot but it doesn't matter much to me otherwise. There's no resonance.

Rhys is happy with Gwen's job (except for the long hours) and proud of her. But he hasn't seen how well she gets along with her sexy, handsome boss, or how much she is intrigued by the mysteries he represents. I thought Rhys might meet Jack when their flat was ransacked by the fairies, but apparently not. I think there will be some complications here.

The problem is that when you read a whole crop of such stories where the lack of experience shows - there's a sort of cumulative effect! Like reading sex scenes written by virgins. The scene may be terrific, but it's dealing with second-hand images.
