When I made an 8 a.m. appointment to see my doctor today, I'd hadn't realized I'd be taking some holidays, with this the first day. So the first day of my holiday I have to fall out of bed early... really early.

Good news: the losartan has brought my blood pressure right down to 114/80. Happy day. Other sort-of good news: I got a flu shot. I'm never sure whether they are really a good idea - I'm about two per cent convinced they work - but I went for it. And then I had to get blood tests. I hate blood tests! But that's because of horrible memories of them taking many vials of blood and never finding a vein and going back and forth between my arms and leaving loonie-sized bruises. That didn't happen today. It was quick, it was easy. Why isn't it always like that?

Then I came home and slept some more. That's the beauty of holidays. There's nothing to say I can't.

Oh, I'm glad for you being able to go back to bed! I think I'll call it a day early tonight.(well, have to do some shopping, and pay attention to the cat, but still. I'll worry about too much to do tomorrow... well, tomorrow.)

Sometimes there's nothing as therapeutic as just being able to take it easy.

:) I also took an extra make-me-feel-better activity today. Went shopping after work :D

Anyway, it's still as early to bed as I can manage it, for me.

Shopping! I could go shopping!

And maybe I will. At least as far as the comic shop, because this is the day the new comics for the week come in. There might even be a new Doctor Who Magazine, though I think that's not quite due yet.

I emphatically agree. After more than two weeks of getting up at 5 am every weekday, I have the next two days off ... and I will *need* every minute of them to shake this (sinus) cold.

OTOH, I too got the flu shot last week. When I did so in the past (I was living in BC), I noticed that I was much less sick than the previous winter, when I did without.

I did a lot of taking it easy yesterday - mostly slept, read, and watched TV. I blamed the flu shot for my lethargy. Almost believed it, too.

Thanks for confirming that taking the flu shot was a good idea. Health is good, and I do recall, last year, being pretty badly sick for a while.

ah bloodtests!! we are connected today, for I had also 3 vials (is that the word?) take from me (lithiumlevel, thyroid function, and kidneyfunction - barely noticable). I have very blue veins, very fortunate for someone who needs to have almost monthly bloodtest (this was just a week after the last one, medlevel increased so need to monitor it). When I still had my hypomanic moods I did get manic from the tests, telling weird horror stories anbout the blood increasing and increasing in volume and flooding us all.

Glad you were ok, both bloodlevel as bloodtesting.

3 vials (is that the word?)

Yes, vials. Maybe test-tubes. They were testing me for kidney and, um... something else... apparently there are things that might go awry there with losartan so the doctor wanted to check.

telling weird horror stories anbout the blood increasing and increasing in volume and flooding us all.

For some reason that makes me think of River in Firefly. She might tell stories like that.

It was a bright, cold morning and nice to walk in.

ah but River had a reason. For me, it was just that I was triggered to tell stories, spontaneous random weird (often sexual) stories. And the needles and the blood seemed to give them an extra boost.
So be it. Now I am almost beaten into normality by the chemicals. ;-) (still, it is allways my version of normality and it is not allways clear I am showing my most normal face)

Just showing that normality is in the mind of he beholder? It's a little more than that... but still subjective. It does sound as if you were creative, at least!

Well, they do seem to be enjoying it! They sang me to sleep on the living room sofa, and then napped along with me. So much lively chirpiness going on, otherwise.

That's adorable! It must make a change for them to have their Mum around during the week!

I've posted to [livejournal.com profile] oltramar about a 1923 silent version of The Talisman, in which our boy was played by... a New Brunswicker!

Oh all things! What fun.

Yes, the birds seem very happy to have me hanging around at their beck and call. I gave them some spinach with breakfast - usually they don't get a vegetable treat till evening.

Spinach with breakfast? My, they must be feeling spoilt! (Just as long as it doesn't turn them into Popeye-esque budgies, bursting out of their cages!)

Budgies behaving like Popeye? The mind boggles ... :-)
Besides, it might be rather hard on [livejournal.com profile] fajrdrako ... :-(

Faugh - the little guys are already hard on me - they may not be Popeye, but they think they are! And indestructible besides. Now, they'd tell you different, but don't listen to them....

Just because they're small and cute, it doesn't mean they're not lethal!

And nobody should forget it - they're pirates, every one of them!

(But they get away with anything, they're so cute.)

Since I'm home, I might was well give them spinach for breakfast. They so obviously love it. I get an extra dose of morning singing.
