I'm getting such a kick out of the odds and ends they're putting up on the website about Torchwood. Reminds me of the websites for Lost and Heroes, where again it's a sort of miscellaneous addendum to the show. Only with Torchwood, they're writing canonical slash for us.

My favourite line in this one: The blogwriter, Peter, is making a play for Captain Jack, and says:
"So, you're either a cop or a hooker."

He grins at that. "Not for a long time. Now, get out of here."

Yeah, I sort of liked that. It took me a beat to figure out the narrator was male, but I'd got it before he said his name was Peter.

These false gods sound so very much like Pratchett's Small Gods. :) I likes it, of course.

Yes - so they do! And that's even more fun. Of course.

It isn't just that it's fun - though it is. It's that every item adds to the mystique of Torchwood. Do you remember the Jackdaw folders? They were historical items for kids which were like a kit - not a book, but a folder in which you could find things related to a certain historical event - maps and letters and portraits and plastic replicas of coins, that sort of thing. To teach kids history.

The Torchwood website reminds me of that. It fills in the space between viewer and TV show a little. It gives us a tantalising glimpse of 'more'.

I don't think Jackdaw reached the UK in my day. Rings a bell though, that type of learning. Absolutely the best way to bring history to life.
Torchwood.org.uk is doing that for Torchwood in a way I don't remember seeing before for a series. 'Tantalising' is the right word. They are playing with us mercilessly :P It's an excellent bunch of odd and bods to keep us amused all week while we wait for the next ep LOL. Not to mention creating evol plot bunnies. They are feeding obsessions, haha. This icon was manipped from a pic at the site by okelay :D
