Quiz: Which Doctor am I?

As if there could have been any doubt.

And why don't I see David Tennant on the list?

You scored as Christopher Eccleston. Eccleston Indeed,. He might have only stayed one season but like you he's reinvigorated many a jaded soul. Its grin up North.

This is at least the third Who quiz where I've got the same result!

So how do you feel about it? Do you relate?

I haven't seen many Hartnell episodes, but "cantankerous old thing" seems to suit me...! Another quiz summed up the character as:

You are the first Doctor! Oh, you can be a bit cranky, that's true. And your ego can be a bit of a put-off at first. However, underneath that
sour demeanor is the heart of a true hero! Your compassion for your fellow beings knows no bounds, and you'd happily sacrifice your life to save another.

Must say, I draw the line at sacrificing my life for anything, though! There are people and ideals I'd kill for, but nothing I'd die for: the point is always to make the other person die, otherwise it's a rather useless exercise. Besides, I'm a physical coward.

LOL! Wear it like a badge!

"Heart of a hero" sounds good. All the best heroes are physical cowards. (Cf. Captain Jack - "I was much better off as a coward.")

"Heart of a hero" sounds good.

But it's not mine. Any more than that hand in the jar is Jack's, if you follow.

All the best heroes are physical cowards.

His Loveliness disagrees, but then he's 12C; they do things differently there. Personally, I think he's quite mad to go charging off into battle without a helmet or shield or metal mail, just to prove a point about not being scared...
Definitely one of his 'blond moments'...! ;-D

Are you thinking of Conrad's heart? The hand in the jar is Jack's, in a fundamental way, even if it isn't physically from his body. It is something he has chosen to keep, posess and value.

Well, indeed, and I confess I was thinking of literary heroes rather than historical ones.

The essence of 'prouesse'.

Several of my boys', actually...
(Do you know Pound, Canto IV?
"It is Cabestan's heart in the dish..." and the legend of the Eaten Heart of Guilhem de Cabestanh? I love that story, though in Seremonda's shoes, I'd have chucked my husband out of the window, not myself.)

Well, indeed, and I confess I was thinking of literary heroes rather than historical ones.

My literary ones tend to be a bit mad in that direction, too, though. Not taking care of themselves properly, being very dashing, and ending up on the wrong end of sharp pointy things. (Mischa von Elphberg, yes, I'm looking at you!) Still, it fuels my h/c complex...

The essence of 'prouesse'.

Exactly. He was lucky to get away with a shoulder-wound that time...

I don't know the Pound passage, but I do know the Legend of the Eaten Heart. Doesn't a version of that turn up in the Decameron, too?

Offal tragedy...

Yes - the Cabestanh story is in the Decameron (under the title of Rossiglione, as the heroine was Countess of Castel-Rossillon). There's also a similar motif in the tale of the Chatelain of Coucy and the Lady of Fayel, where his heart is sent back to her after he's killed on Crusade, and her husband intercepts it and cooks it.

Just as well our medieval guys didn't have television. Just think what they'd have given us.

Hee - you're the Composite Doctor! You're all of them - ? What a weird answer to the question. Perhaps it's an illusion or a trick.
