More thoughts on Captain Jack...
Nov. 2nd, 2006 10:11 pmI can't help musing about Captain Jack from time to time throughout the day. For purely literary reaons, you understand.
To be fair, I'll cut for non-specific spoilers. I had been wondering what Jack might have kept, if anything, from his life before his resurrection on the Game Station. I realized in the middle of a scene that I was looking at him using a technical ability he had back in The Empty Child - he has a device that scans for alien tech, the same technique that impressed Rose as being so "professional".
Now, it probably isn't the same physical device, though it could be, if he had it stashed somewhere and picked it up later. Or it could be that built it for Torchwood.

I concede the possibility that afterwards Jack was able to travel enough in time and space to recover some tech he wanted to have with him - but I wouldn't bank on it.

Since we don't know what happened to him after the Game Station, or how he got to Cardiff in our present, there's no way of knowing what he was able to pick up from where - gadgets, possessions, and so on. But I like to simplify the notion by believing that he really did only have what he was wearing - and if that includes the wrist comm, so much the better.
