Doctor Who and other Heroes...

A lovely relaxing evening - after a pretty good day. I redecorated my living room a little bit, which is always fun, though I once again failed to vacuum the carpet.
I watched Doctor Who season 2, episode 3, "School Reunion", which aired on CBC tonight. Watched it on

Then we watched Heroes. Again, it surprised me. I had thought that Peter could only use his flying powers when he and Nathan were together. I was only half right - he can manifest the powers of whoever he's with, so when he's with Nathan he can fly, when he's with Isaak he can paint the future.... More interesting than I guessed. Could he do anything unusual when he's with Mohindar? Where is Mohindar, anyway?
The Weapon X potential of Claire's scary father is interesting.
I particularly adore Hiro and Ando .

Nathan flew, but still (apparently) fell. Isaak wasn't exactly painting when Peter was painting for him. This all remains to be further revealed in future...
Creepy Glasses Guy is a good name. Or Very Creepy Glasses Guy. He makes me think of Marvel comics' character Peter Henry Gyrich, who also has creepy glasses.
Hiro is magnificent. I'll never look at waffles the same way again.

Date: 2006-10-24 03:00 am (UTC)Mohinder kind of took off from Peter after the brother said he'd seen the vision, so no telling where he's at now. I don't remember seeing anything in the preview for him either...
Interesting that Claire's dad gave that boy a second chance. Thought he was going to do more than just gut the kid's memories...
What/Who's Weapon X?

Hmm - I wonder when we'll catch up to Mohindar.
I begin to wonder if Claire's Dad is as bad as he seems, or if something unexpected is going on.
Weapon X is a series of comics about Wolverine in Marvel Comics - there was something called the Weapon X project where a certain villainous quasi-governmental organization was doing nasty illegal experiments on mutant subjects, including Wolverine. Most subjects in their hands died, but Wolverine, because of his healing powers, could survive - after they'd given him an adamantium skeleton and claws. There have been some interesting plotlines concerning Weapon X, and every time I see a TV show or movie where someone is interfering medically with superheroes, either to change them or examine them (as Claire's Dad seemed to do with Matt), I think of Wolverine as Weapon X.

Cured, how? Did it get you writing?
When I first saw it I thought it was 'just for the old fans' but I love it more every time I watch it.

Date: 2006-10-24 01:38 pm (UTC)I'm not scared of monsters and story charecters any more, because I was sure I was going to be terrified of School Reunion because I was so scared of The Demon Headmaster (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Demon_Headmaster) but even though there were things I saw as references I wasn't scared at all. So I'm happy. :)

After a lifetime of reading comics, continuity errors don't bother me. I don't see them as errors, but as revisions.

Date: 2006-10-24 02:29 pm (UTC)1. The extra bat. One of the dinner"ladies" gets foomed, yet there is still the same number of bats in the heads office as new staff.
2. A flutter of wings. The head is no longer in bat form, so why do we get the suspicious shillowet when he is in his office with the orphan? Is this the extra bat?
3. Disappearing headphones. They're on when the power is, but after Mickey unplugs.... [btw, very efficient alien technology, all the computers in a room from one socket]
;)
