A good Doctor Who Article...

When I dropped into the grocery store this morning, the October issue of The Magazine caught my eye because it had Ten and Rose on the cover. It may be common to see magazines with Doctor Who on them in the UK, but it's rare in Canada, and only happened now because season 2 just started on CBC.
I bought it, of course. And I was delighted with the quality of the article. Lots of pictures; there's a couple of pages introducing the characters and concepts of Doctor Who ("bigger on the inside than the outside"). Then a page each on David Tennant and Billie Piper - whose name they misspelled. Oops. Then there's a full episode guide of season 2, with pictures, a feature on "Famous Doctor Who Fans" (including the Queen and Johnny Depp), and "The Ten Doctors" - which pictures of each. Then there's an item on "Friends" such as Sarah Jane Smith, Jackie Tyler and Captain Jack - even though Captain Jack doesn't appear in season 2. And a section on "Foes" - Daleks, Cybermen, the Absorbaloff, Mr. Finch and the Ood. Finally there is a list of connections between Harry Potter and Doctor Who, such as David Tennant's role in Goblet of Fire. At the very end, links to the CBC and BBC Doctor Who websites.

Date: 2006-10-18 07:44 pm (UTC)I see online that the new issue of "Starburst" has a major article about Torchwood. I'm hunting for a local magazine store that might carry it - "Mags & Fags" is a possibility. The Silver Snail used to, but no longer. You'd think the UK was on the other side of the galaxy.

And you're right; in all other aspects, the article was remarkably good.
