Walking to work...

Yesterday was beautiful: heavy fog, with the tree-trunks almost black and the leaves a bright mix of yellow, red, orange and green.

Today was sunny, and the trees still bright. It was cold enough that I wished I'd had gloves, and my hands are still stiff from the cold fifteen minutes after coming indoors.

I love October.

I need a job.
Over the past 4-5 months, I've applied for 16 jobs, and had 11 rejections (6 after interviews). Am waiting to hear about 5. It took me 9 years to get a full-time job, and I can't face the thought of another 9 years on the dole.

What I'd rather have, in an ideal world, is a private income so I could write without having to worry about paying the rent, & c. I'm not much enamoured of some of the jobs I've applied for. But needs must. And the DSS can stop your Jobseeker's Allowance if you're not "actively seeking employment".

The rules are the same here, which is basically why I am working in a job that has nothing to do with history. So I pay the rent, at least for the time being. But it isn't the life I want.
