Good word....
Jun. 14th, 2003 10:55 amI was reading
"It's the allyay show. Everything goes. No pairing seems too impossible. (except Book/just about anyone, but that's because he's a man of the scary hair)."
That is one of the reasons I find the show so brilliant and wonderful, and one of the reasons I have trouble writing fanfic for it. My favourite pairing is Mal/Inara, but I couldn't write them together. I just couldn't. Otherwise I could put anyone with anyone, and I'd be tempted to slash someone with Book just because everyone keeps excluding him, and he might be really sensual and cool and know all about tantra.
Okay, so he doesn't. Celibate order. Right. Well, we all know sex with priests is hot.
The point being, this is the only show I can think of offhand where the pairing that really excites me is het. And where I love every single one, every one, of the main characters. Love 'em with a passion.
(Smiling to remember naked, grinning Mal at the end of "Trash".)

I'm not hearing that. Denial is my friend. *sigh* Is it December yet?
I'm gonna go make my grandma watch Serenity with me. She watches Smallville, how cool is that?

I've never seen a show with such great characters.

Date: 2003-06-14 04:22 pm (UTC)Exactly. So much UST flying around that ship. And just about every pairing seem plausible to me. I just prefer the slashy ones. *grin* Of course, if they had actually made one set of characters a gay couple on the show, maybe I'd be busy writing het fanfic and babbling on about the het subtext between character X and character Y. Who knows? I'm kinda contrary that way.

Yeah, I can't imagine a pairing on that ship that I wouldn't like - it's quite amazing! There isn't a weak link among the characters or among the relationships. EVeryone seems to live a three-dimensional life: even sequestered on a small ship in space, they had complete and complex personalities and their lives reflect that - in their clothes, their speech patterns, the things they have in their bunks, the way they interact with each other.
So rich a pattern of patterns.
