I know know that I own 338 paperback works of fiction and they are all inventoried, sorted alphabetically by author, and replaced neatly in my bookshelves. And I am exhausted.
It was a bigger job, and more difficult, and I'd thought it would be. But very satisfying! At least for the moment I know what I have, and don't have. And there are a few books that have gone missing - how perplexing!
I was digging around on Saturday for extra hangers and found an entire large stack of paperbacks in a random box of winter clothes... that's perplexing!
Yes, but how nice to have found the books! After I thought I'd finished the job, I found six paperbacks that had eluded me, bringing the ppk fiction count to 344; then I culled a few more and I think the number is down to 340 now. Another became an impromptu birthday present. I found some non-fiction among the fiction, and discovered that I have two copies of the Penguin edition of Joinville and Villehardouin's History of the Crusades, trans. Shaw, and I only need one, so I'll give it to the library. I really must do the same job on my other books - who knows what I might find?
