I was away from LJ for a few days and now everyone's doing this - well, runpunkrun and chazzbanner, to name the two I've seen and scrutinized so far. I think they are fascinating and amusing.

Some of the things, I had to stare at for a while to figure out what the picture was supposed to represent! The funniest is the musician 'Slash', whom I would never have heard of except that he turns up in google searches for stories. It's rather impressive that where I had "Captain Cairo Azarcon" listed in my interests, the thing came up with a sketch of Ryan Azarcon by the author, Karin Lowachee. Who was there but who seems to have disappeared. Huh. She was hiding behind a book, anyway.

It makes me want to change or add to my interests, and see what other pictures I get.

Yup. Every once in a while I notice one I can't quite figure out... so I have to go check my interests list to see what they're trying to show me!

I did my own and had to compare with the list to understand, and then click and click to pick pix I liked. I got slash too and at first I couldn't understand why.

And wanted to play with it more, but LJ lemminging killed it.
I hope it gets reloaded somewhere again. Is fun.

Yes, it is fun, isn't it? I've been spending time I shouldn't, scrutinizing other people's LJs, trying to recognize faces - I tend to recognize the pictures of writers and not the pictures of actors!

I hope you get a chance to reload, I want to see your pictures.

I don't think it will be up later. This is the message I get:

I tried it with indifferent results... I was rather shocked to see 'fanfic' illustrated with a slashy pic of 2 naked Elves (not my style at all), and 'cinema' with an anime sex-scene. And it didn't have pics for some of my favourites...

Naked elves - oh dear! No, not your style. You could change them by clicking on them, you know. Sometimes you simply got more bad pictures but sometimes there was a gem. For "Dunnett" I got a bunch of pictures that I couldn't identify at all - perhaps from the town of Dunnett, if there is such a town? - until I found a picture of my favourite author. I did see a lot of anime sex scenes on various people's collages.... I don't think the program coped well with history or some of the arts. Pictures of auditoriums for my 'opera' and 'theatre' interests seemed rather unimaginative to me, in view of the interesting stuff otherwise found.

Yes, you could change them, though it wasn't terribly reliable - I still ended up with some pictures that weren't the ones I preferred, and with others I just didn't bother. But there were some where a few clicks got a much better result than the first time.

I seem to have lost one of them this morning. I wonder why?

I've been trying to remember what was in the spot where one is missing. Couldn't.

Possibly the loss of the original page has something to do with the missing picture. Or not.
