If anyone's paying attention to the Hello! poll again for most attractive man, though David Tennant is still in the lead, Orlando Bloom is catching up fast. You can vote here.

I voted.
I remember voting in one of these polls previously, for Adrien, but he only came third in the end... So many people have less discerning taste than ourselves!

That's true, you know. Some people don't even appreciate Conrad!

I noticed that [livejournal.com profile] evremonde on my flist also noted Shelley's birthday, but called him a nutcase - now, I know [livejournal.com profile] evremonde is a fine and lovely person, but for a moment there, I was offended on Shelley's behalf. Nutcase, indeed!

I must admit to not being a Shelley-fan myself, but I wouldn't go that far.

Hee! I can see her case, actually, but I'm still protective and defensive of the man, and I'm probably as much of a "nutcase" as he is. In the nicest possible way. Well, maybe the same ways. But I'm neither as talented nor as reckless.

I simply don't much like the poetry of that period - him, Byron, Wordsworth or Keats. If I like the work, I can forgive a great deal of the person, but I don't like his treatment of women: high-sounding egalitarian sentiments in theory, and pretty abusive in practice.

I don't much like Wordsworth or Keats, except in fits and starts. I don't much like Shelley's poetry, though I like his subjects and ideas - I find it more interesting to read about the man that to read his poetry, or to read about his poetry.

Byron's poetry I like, because I like his sense of humour and irony.

As for abuse: Byron abused everyone, male or female: he was and equal-opportunity abuser. I don't admire him (at least not for that), but I do enjoy the drama of his life.

Mind, not all that many people have heard of him, poor boy...

Have you watched any of the Crusader 'video nasties' yet?

Not right through, though I did peek at them, hooted, and put them aside till I have time to sit and watch.

It looks hilarious, in a painful sort of way.

It is. Lots of gratuitous Conrad-abuse. Poor darling.

That's a very pretty icon of a very pretty man. *g*

Had lost the link to that page, so thanks! Last time I looked, DT was in the lead by around 2000 votes. The Orli fangirls have been busy, obviously. Hmm.

BTW, did you get the dvd yet? When you do, can you remind me what exactly I put on it? Cracker, obviously - but what else? I think DT on Ready Steady Cook (the square orange!) was on there, so I probably don't need to put it on your next dvd, but confirmation is required because my mind is a sieve.

I think so! It's by [Bad username or site: by briefsmile__ @ livejournal.com], whom I think is very talented.

Yeah, me too! That'll teach me to look away for a bit. Useless to be overconfident.

BTW, did you get the dvd yet?

Not yet. I wait in eager antici-pation.

When you do, can you remind me what exactly I put on it?

Okay.

Yup! As fangirls, we must be ever vigilant.

PS I don't think you can mean [livejournal.com profile] by - that took me to a Belarussian community with no links that I could see to time-travelling aliens...

Oops! Typo. Comes from typing too fast at work. I meant by [livejournal.com profile] briefsmile_ I think, but no guarantees even on that.

Ever-vigilant fangirl, that's me. When the cause is right!
