Beulah came over with a handfull of DVDs. First we browsed a bunch of yoga DVDs, because I have been using such daily now for my yoga practise, which I am happy to say, I have started again. I also have what seems to be a permanent case of sore muscles, but that will pass, that will pass....

Then we watched Cry-Baby, a John Waters movie with Johnny Depp. Beulah was unprepared for the oddness of it all but enjoyed it, and was amazed once again by Depp's beauty.

Then I showed her the Doctor Who episodes, The Empty Child and The Doctor Dances, because even though she's a Doctor Who fan, she couldn't remember ever seeing Captain Jack Harkness. I couldn't leave that as the state of affairs, now, could I? She did eventually remember Jack, and we both enjoyed it. Still my favourite episodes. Beulah needed kleenex. (So did I.)

Then I got a delightful surprise phone call from silverwhistle and we talked happily about Crusaders, one of my favourite topics ever. She told me that Niketas Choniates' Annals had been translated into English in 1984 under the title O city of Byzantium, so I looked it up.... It's $549.95 USC at amazon.com, so I hastily ordered it on Interlibrary Loan. Let's hope I can get it there.
