When I left the apartment today it wasn't raining. I wore my Gore-tex jacket anyway. It was a cool morning.

Within five minutes of walking it was pouring. The deluge revisited. After twenty minutes of walking, just when I thought it wasn't possible to be any more wet, a car launched a small tidal wave over me and I learned that there had been dry spots on the backs of my legs that weren't there any more.

Luckily I had dry clothes in my backpack (on its way to be laundered at the theatre) that I could wear for yoga. And dry clothes at the theatre that I could wear for work.

I'm enjoying the yoga more and more. Yes, I know I love hatha yoga, I've been doing it for years, but the kundalini yoga is new and its effects are surprisingly different.

I hope it stops raining before it's time to go home.

Arggg -- I've always hated that. Drives me absolutely crazy.

Lucky you had a change of clothes!

I'll say! and my walking shoes are a sodden mess. I'm thinking about putting them through the clothes-dryer.

My turn yesterday, yours today. The deluge must have moved north!

Hopefully it's at the North Pole by now and we don't have to worry about it any more!

a southerly shift

It may have done a U-turn. I got drenched at about ten after six in the evening, by nothing but what was blowing in through the loading-dock doors as the horizontal rain cascaded past outside! It came from nowhere, and was gone within about fifteen minutes. Before that, my little stack of paperwork got pretty wet, and the stuffy air of the dock got recirculated very efficiently , which I considered a major benefit.

Sorry you got soaked by the car. When I'm driving, I try not to do that to pedestrians, because I've been there too (my most memorable ones were both in January -- icy slush, anyone?).

I guess there's a lot of that rain business going on.

Yes, most drivers are careful, but I can see how easy it would be not to be careful, especially going at high speeds. It's just one of the hazards of being a pedestrian. It's a smaller annoyance than others - like bicycles on sidewalks. Don't get me wrong, I approve of bicycles, but I don't think they belond where the pedestrians are. (More bike lanes! Special bike paths! That's what we need. And I realize that Ottawa probably has more and better bike lanes and bike paths than any other city in the continent.)

These are the times when I wish witchcraft of the Willow (Buffy), Charmed or Bewitched variety worked, because you want instant repercussions for these unthinking idiots....

Wishing you hot tea and a warm, dry, cozy apartment.

Thank you! Yes, I'm cozy now, with dry socks and shoes too. As a matter of fact, it's dry and sunny now - just my luck to be out at the time of the deluge. The shoes I was wearing this morning are still at the theatre - they were as sodden at 5 as they were at 9.
