I went to see Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man's Chest. It was a lovely evening, spent with Vicky and Marion, whom I hadn't had much of a chance to talk to recently. We ate at Richtree, directly below the cinemas at the Rideau Centre. Grilled salmon, and much talk of Doctor Who, since Marion has been a fan for many years. She hasn't seen any of season two; the only time she's seen Ten was in The Christmas Invasion.
I loved Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man's Chest. The best thing about the first movie was that it was a surprise; this was not a surprise, but more of the same - the virtue of familiarity, though the plot held a few delightful surprises.
Ah, Norrington, Norrington... he was my favourite, after Captain Jack Sparrow.

I was NOT expecting his character to take that turn
Neither was I - such a contrast. Yet it made a lot of sense, plotwise. Totally wonderful.
And Elizabeth! I knew there was a reason I liked her so much.
There are many reasons I like her. Including the fact that Keira Knightly looked adorable in those breeches.
I really don't see why she couldn't have lived happily ever after with all three of them.
She's still learning a lot about being pirate - hasn't quite learned to 'think outside the box' yet.
Modern puritanism, I tell ya
Yeah - old-fashioned puritanism was bad enough!

Date: 2006-07-08 06:25 pm (UTC)Oh, absolutely!
the three-way swordfight was spectular
And funnier than it had any right to be.
The end was the biggest and most delightful suprise for me
It was terrific - and I certainly didn't see it coming!
Also, did you stay through the credits?
I certainly did.
(I try to for most every film.)
Me too. I have a thing for credits. And sometimes, like here, it pays off.
