Donna,
maaboroshi, and I visited
maaseru to watch the World Cup game between England and Portugal. We were all supporting England. It was an
interesting game, though sad for our team.
After the game, I went home to do some housework, nap, read, and watch an episode of
Doctor Who - and to make dinner, which I took up at
maaboroshi and
maaseru at six, and we watched the movie
Jarhead with Jake Gyllenhaal as a U.S. marine in the Gulf War. His acting was excellent and the photography was amazing. I was left wanting to read the book it was based on; though I wasn't always sure how I was intended to be interpreting the movie. Perhaps it was simply a case of 'what you see is what you get'.
At ten, we watched the fireworks over Parliament Hill. They seemed quieter than usual - perhaps the wind direction was wrong? - but brighter and bigger than ever.
