I just stumbled across a rather beautiful version of one of my favourite poems: Batter my heart, three-person'd God by John Donne. In which Donne begs for a mystical rape - and I don't mean to sound reductionist in so describing it; it's a strong poem.

I love finding such treasures online.

thanks, I like the poem. I didn't know it. I also have a strong feeling of synchronicity with piffle and the topic of Reve and God as a donkey.

BTW what do the pictirues signify?

I know this. Where do I know this from? I know this.

*frantic*

Why do I know this?

Hmm. I don't know. I know it because I have a passion for sonnets, especially sonnets of a particular type.

Donne is a famous poet. Perhaps you studied him once? Or stumbled over a quote?

My favourite bit is where he compares himself to 'an usurp'd town'.

Yes, there was a train of thought that brought it to mind - so I googled for it and found that nice site.

The pictures from [livejournal.com profile] acampbell relate to an episode of Smallville where the writing (or giving) of a poem is part of the story. Small-town seduction?

It's the same poem Elizabeth quoted. That's why the pix.

Or, rather, the poem on the piece of paper was written by a featured character that week. Lex starts quoting the Donne poem to Lana.

And what a nice moment that scene was - for me, at least!

You're back from Stratford?

Yes! I got back yesterday around suppertime, and was too tired to do anything but go to bed early and sleep for about 12 hours. (Not so much tired from the trip per se as allergies and candidiasis symptoms.) I had a great time.
