New Mutants, current volume

Over lunchtime, among other comics, I read the recent New Mutants #1.

Maybe I'm just feeling sentimental because of my head cold, but it chocked me up twice.

I think it's a great idea to show the New Mutants (and Xavier's school) from the point of view of a new student who has never even heard of them. And to have Danielle Moonstar show up was perfect; I think I have a crush on Dani as much as on Sam Guthrie. I'm thinking of the original New Mutants here, where those two were my favourites - but there were many wonderful characters in that comic. I wonder if I dare hope for the return of Sam.

Dani had a great line, where a nasty bully is threatening the young girl, and she tells him he'd better stop. He says something like: "Oh, yeah? And what's *your* power?"

Dani just says: "I scare people."

Oooh.

Have they started a new New Mutants? That was the first comic I ever collected with my own money. Dani and, later on, Illyana were two of my all time favorite comic characters.

Yes, it's a new "New Mutants" series, with a very nice cover. Issue #1 came out two weeks ago. The covers shows Dani, Magma, Xian and Rahne (in her wolf form), so I assume they will all be in it, though of the characters we know only Dani appears in this one. I don't know what other characters there will be. I assume it isn't an all-girl team - ?

Sam *IS* Back!!

You must read X-Treme X-Men #24. It's ALL ABOUT SAM. And he's back in character!! The ugly goatee, bulgy eye-thing is GONE! It's Sam as we know and love him. And I love him so much. :)
