Hypothetical questions, part 2

Still for
dameange, because I got interrupted.
2. What's your best fandom memory?
There are so many good ones! But I think the best is from the first Dorothy Dunnett gathering in Edinburgh in 1990, with the thrill of meeting a crowd of Dunnett fans all together for the first time, and meeting hearing Dorothy Dunnett and hearing her talk about her books for the first time. A bunch of us staying in the same section of the Pollock Halls of Residence would sit and talk late into the night - me, Tovah, Donna, Sharron, Rita, Tove - what a wonderful time! And what wonderful people.
But I can hardly limit it to that. Meeting Frank Miller the first time was a thrill - he'd just done one or two Marvel comics at that time. Getting original "Master of Kung Fu" art from Gene Day and filling my living room walls with it.
Meeting Guy Gavriel Kay and having him say to me after half an hour of conversation, "Have you ever heard of a writer called Dorothy Dunnett?" And me thinking: "Did he ask that question? Isn't that the question I ask other people?" Into my stunned pause he started to explain, and I said, "No, no, I know her works. She's my favourite author." And he shot back with, "Okay, what's the name of Archie Abernethy's elephant?"
And for great memories... going further back... that wonderful day when I discovered and bought a brand new Marvel comic by Stan Lee and Jack Kirby called "X-Men #1", and curled up in the armchair in the living room reading it over and over.
3. How do you see the rift happening? And how would you fix it?
No rift. If/when it happens, I will cope.
Actually, I see it as a gradual divergence, the way they're setting things up now. Different choices in different circumstances. Lex being driven by misfortune to bitterness and ruthlessness.
But in my head - no rift.
Seriously, it isn't just because I love the CLex. It's because I never liked Superman continuity: I loved Superboy, but I disliked the adult Clark Kent, I hated Lois Lane, and there just isn't much there for me. So I don't want changes that will lead in that direction.
Also I am committed to the idea that the continuity of Smallville is a unique and original path of its own, in which the things we have seen in most other aspects of Superman continuity are not inevitable.
4. So, Lex. Totally bald, or just the head? (feel free to describe Lex
anatomy as proof)
In most of my stories he's bald all over. (Except eyebrows.) I am not committed to the scenario, but I like it because it's different, and because it gives Lex reason for feeling like a freak.
5. Give me your favorite recipe.
Done from memory, because I'm at work:
Honey-Baked Chicken
1 chicken, cut up (or 4 legs or whatever)
1/3 cup butter or margarine, melted
1/3 cup honey
2 tbsp prepared mustard (I often use dry mustard instead)
1 tbsp curry powder
1 tsp salt
Melt the butter, stir in honey, mustard, curry powder and salt. Pour the liquid over the chicken and bake at 375ยบ for 1 to 1 1/2 hours, or till done.
It's good with rice.
