My feet are okay today. I hope they remain so!

28 days to Malta.

I remembered my book this morning, and read happily at lunchtime. However, I forgot my umbrella. Thunderstorms are expected. Will there ever be a day I remember all that I need? I guess the answer is... not at 7:30 a.m., I won't.

Aww, what a great icon!

I don't mind thunderstorms as long as they aren't happening when I'm trying to go home. Which is, of course, preferred timing for thunderstorms.

Those two facts are not unconnected, Malta being quite hard on the feet. It's all the tarmac and paving and bare rock - not a lot of nice cushiony turf or leaf litter to walk on. So do bring your most comfortable shoes!

Are you sure it's only 28 days? I thought your extra week was after the Siege, not before. I hope it's after, because I can't see that I'll be able to get time off from work the week before - some annoying but important meetings.

I don't have a lot of choice in the matter of shoes - maybe I'll buy a pair when I'm in Malta! I realize it might be hard on the feet, and generally speaking, when I travel, I like to walk a lot - not just sightseeing, but I like to explore places on foot.

I have extra time both before and after the siege - don't worry, we'll still get to see each other. I'm leaving Canada on Oct. 12.

I really wouldn't advise buying new shoes when you're here - not if you want them to be comfortable! I took new shoes to Venice and ended up buying another pair just so that I didn't have to walk everywhere in the first pair. Like you, I like to do a fair bit of walking - the only consolation was that the (new) sneakers rubbed in different places from the (new) sandals... No, not ideal.

I'm working till Friday the 14th, and will have two weeks off starting the next day. Hurrah! :) If you'd still like to stay at my house for a couple of days, then maybe we can do that after the Siege. I'm going to ask this once and then never again, on pain of death. *g* You get here on the twelfth and leave when?

Okay, comfort is important. Maybe I'll buy shoes before I go. I don't want to have trouble wandering around Malta because I have sore feet.

I leave Canada on Oct. 12 - I think I get to Malta Oct. 13 - and then leave Malta Nov. 1 and get home Nov. 2... with a night in Frankfort... and I don't have my info in front of me to double-check that.

The rapidly-approaching date is both wonderful and scary since I seem to have a lot to do before then and I feel totally disorganized. Oh well, that's not new.

So I'll have to make a pre-Malta shopping list:
- shoes
- pink t-shirt

I doubt you could be as disorganised as me. I have the start of the Siege set in my mind as the date by when I have to get the house sorted out and clean(ish), and all the piles of ancient magazines and god-knows-what that cover every free surface (and parts of the floor) removed, as well as the new light fittings up in the kitchen and on the stairs, the new mirror and cane blind up in the bedroom, and sundry odds and ends fixed. At least this week I got the routine roof resealing done (should do for another two years now), and I did go and buy the light fittings, even if I now have to wait for my brother to get back from Germany before they can go up. There are certain advantages to having an electrical engineer for a brother. *g*

And whee! The 13th to the 1st sounds fantastic! :)

As well as shoes and pink t-shirt(s), you might want to add a Viggo or two to your shopping list - seeing that the local shops don't stock them...

Viggo - so near and yet so far. Is he still in Toronto? I've seen remarkably little gossip, I mean news, about him.

I look guiltily around my apartment and think that I should be doing some cleaning before Malta, but tonight, I feel like reading.
