Aug. 9th, 2005 06:48 pmI haven't looked at the Fannish Friday 5 in eons. I rather like the question:
Who are your five favorite law enforcement (police, government agency, whatever) personnel?
- Bodie (CI5, The Professionals)
- Doyle (CI5, The Professionals)
- Fox Mulder (FBI, X-Files)
- Nick Fury (SHIELD, Nick Fury, Agent of SHIELD and any number of other Marvel comics)
- Web (FBI, The Inside)
Thing is, most of my favourite heroes don't work in law enforcement. They're more likely to be smugglers (Mal Reynolds), pirates (Captain Jack Sparrow), thieves (Gambit), and outlaws (Francis Crawford). There's even a shady businessman - Lex Luthor. Law enforcement? Not so much.
And note that Bodie and Doyle are on the shady side of Law Enforcement, a quasi-counter-espionage paramilitary secret police. While Web... he may be FBI, but he's the surreal insane side of the FBI.
Come to think of it, so is Mulder.
Leave old Nick Fury as the only straight guy in the bunch.

Date: 2005-08-09 11:19 pm (UTC)Didn't you slash Nick Fury with the Desert Peach, or has my memory deserted me? Or did you mean 'straight' in some other sense?
So glad to see you posting. Greg and I went to the Elephant Walk and spent a fair bit remembering fondly our dinner with you there. :-)

Date: 2005-08-09 11:48 pm (UTC)I should do this one. I have Webb and Palmer and Bodie and Doyle without even considering.
Indeed! Sometimes it's easy. But I'm glad I only had to count up to five.
Didn't you slash Nick Fury with the Desert Peach, or has my memory deserted me?
Yup, that I did. With glee.
Or did you mean 'straight' in some other sense?
Definitely in another sense!

That was wonderful. I hope I can go back sometime!

Date: 2005-08-10 10:26 pm (UTC)I am not averse to doing a sequel to "Forever True" - I think about it from time to time. I have a few other things half-written or plotted. My love of Bodie and Doyle is always with me.
Hey, I like the idea of a Phd on "Forever True". Do you think we could find a good slashy university faculty who'd go for it? If only!

Date: 2005-08-11 11:36 am (UTC)I would be walking on air if you did a sequel to FT. There's so much scope for one and I think it needs a sequel: after all how long could all 3 have survived in that situation I wonder? Something has to give...
I bet there are people willing to supervise a slashy project in some university faculty, somewhere, it's just finding them. Maybe I'll do a google. Cheers.
