And I don't mean 'hot' in a good way, like a Clex story. I mean sticky, tired, sweaty, grumpy hot. Had a rotten day at work, leavened by a nice supper with maaseru and maaboroshi at DuBarry Chinese Buffet. Fell upon the creme caramel like a starving woman. Felt better afterwards.

But I just finished my twelve-page submission for Apaplexy. Collation is on Saturday.

Now I can sleep.

Um, actually it's a swwonsome creme brulee that they do. Like you, I am wilting in the heat and my brain keeps short-circuiting.

The restaurant is called Chez Philippe and yes, it really is run by Philippe, who is French. I want to try his cheese selection - shall we have lunch there one day during your second week? He does a divine chocolate mousse, too. Hmm. Maybe I should forget about the cheese and just concentrate on the desserts when we go...

Yeah. My brain wants me to put it in the freezer and leave it there with the ice cream.

I'd would love to go to Chez Philippe when I'm in Malta. (Chocolate mousse. Okay.) I have to eat somewhere, right?

Chez Philippe is in Ta' Xbiex, if you want to look it up on a map. On the coast, on the way to Sliema from Valletta, just about opposite the access bridge to Manoel Island.

It's an important survival skill, knowing the best places to eat in a new country. :)

I'm not sure I still have ice cream in my freezer. I used to. Some nice friend brought it to one of my dinner-video-parties and left it. I have a suspicion that I've already emptied the tub.

And I agree about survival skills - a careful study of the restaurants is a must!

Beulah and I have just been conferring (with some input from Alayne) about what restaurant to choose tomorrow night when Tina Dallas is in town; we're having a Dunnett get-together. Should be fun. I hope we choose a place that has creme brulee. No, wait, I just had it yesterday. Am I greedy or what?

I'm not sure what it was in degrees. Thirty-something, and humid. It's similar today, and I think the predicted high is something like thirty-two.
