Tonight I watched a TV show called Empire - a CTV miniseries about the life of Augustus Caesar. This was the first of five episodes.

It seemed very Canadian to me. It's billed as an American production, but there was something about it.... Colm Feore (one of my favourite Canadian actors) played a great Julius Caesar (one of my favourite guys ever), but there was about him something of the aroma of a Canadian politician.... and no Cleopatra in sight.

Santiago Carrera was extremely beautiful as the young Octavius. And some of the women were, too.... like the woman who played the wife of Tyrannus, but I didn't catch her name.

I found it more convincing than a lot of the movies about Rome that I've seen. I'm sad, though, that we'll be seeing no more of Caesar.

It was nice to see that they got his final words right. ("You too, my son?")

Hey, I was watching too! Didn't watch the whole thing, but we taped it. I like Colm Feore. The series looked interesting in the commercials, and I was considering watching it, but when it began and I saw Colm Feore, I thought, okay, I must watch it now.

I kept thinking of Trudeau whenever he was onscreen, but I haven't seen that entire miniseries.

I like Colm Feore: first time I ever saw him, he was Cassius in "Julius Caesar" at Stratford, which makes it all the more deightful to see him play Caesar.

I missed the Trudeau series, but I'd like to see it.
