[livejournal.com profile] lmondegreen and [livejournal.com profile] d_v_8 came over for a Smallville evening - not our customary Smallville Wednesday but a Smallville Tuesday, which is almost as legitimate, since the show airs on the Canadian station on Tuesday. And I knew neither of them had seen Onyx. Sadly, [livejournal.com profile] maaboroshi and [livejournal.com profile] blackbyrde couldn't make it.

I made salad, [livejournal.com profile] d_v_8 made fruit salad, and we talked about history. How wonderful to be with people who like to talk about history! Mostly we talked about Gordon in Khartoum and I was trying (unsuccessfully) to remember the title of the gay-themed novel I once read about Gordon... was it by Robin Maugham? Drat my bad memory.

Then, eating, we watched the first half of Krypto, and then Onyx and then the second half of Krypto. The second half of Krypto was something of an anticlimax, after that.

Onyx was even more fun than I remembered. Bad Lex in black.... and that duel scene with Lionel. Lex drinking Ty Nant again! Oh so lovely. This was a show that remembered its long-ago continuity.

Ty Nant is incredibly wonderful. Incredibly. One of my friends went to Wales and brought us back a bottle and I promptly stole it and hoarded it carefully for special occasions like... whenever I felt like some Ty Nant.

Isn't it great? And so beautifully bottled? A work of art. There's a store just down the street from my place that sells it; it's rather expensive, so I try to control myself.

I keep a bottle in my locker at work, for emergency purposes.
