I just watched the last four episodes of Battlestar Galactica to date: "The Hand of God", "Colonial Day", and the two parts of "Kobol's Last Gleaming".

Wow. What a series. Fascinating characters, excellent scriptwriting and a plot that doesn't stop twisting. There was so much I liked....

  • I love Starbuck. She's terrific from beginning to end.

  • I was a little surprised to see the relationship between Starbuck and Apollo heating up. Those two are great together, but there's someone else I'd rather see her with, so I was just a tiny bit disappointed - though not surprised. Just hoping, I suppose, that they would keep that implication (or complication) at bay a little longer.

  • I was taken utterly by surprise when Boomer shot Adama. I don't think he's dead, but I was shocked.

  • I'd love to know how much the clones can communicate with each other - either of their own kind or others.

  • One of my favourite story themes is "the lie that becomes the truth". I was delighted to see that here - Adama said he would take them to Earth, it looks as if he might be doing so. (I also love the implied similarity of theme to E.C. Tubb's Dumarest series, though Dumarest, as far as I know, never did find Earth again.)

  • I continue to like the Boomer of Caprica more than the Boomer on Galactica. I love it that she's pregnant and I love it that Helo is protecting her.

  • Does Baltar really feel something for Starbuck? His head is just sooo messed up....

  • The stuff about the arrow and the ruins on Kobol and the President's visions has my head swimming. I find the oracular themes a little confusing, and for that reason find myself suspicious of them. I am thankful for Adama's rationalism.

  • So many wonderful and interconnected plotlines!

  • More, please.

I've only watched two episodes so far, and still not the pilot--but of course I fell in love with Jamie's Apollo at Comic Con long before I saw any of it! I've downloaded through episode 11, I think, which I'm sure is far ahead of what we've gotten so far here. I'm just glad I went to that panel at CC and fell so hard for the now-auburn-haired Mr. Bamber, or I might never have given the show a chance.

I envy you your luck -- I saw the mini-series, but have not yet seen any of the ongoing series. I'm glad you like it, and I'm glad that it's wonderful!

(who is that lovely man in your header, the one saying, "Smile -- and get it over with"?)

Understandably! He's amazing.

I've downloaded through episode 11

Aside from the Pilot, there are 13 episodes all together.

I'm just glad I went to that panel at CC and fell so hard for the now-auburn-haired Mr. Bamber

I remain amazed at how good it is, not just Bamber but all the performances, and the intricacies of the plot. Some episodes are better than others, of course, but the show keeps surprising me with the directions it takes. In a good way.

The mini-series is barely a hint of what's to come.

The lovely man in my header is Jamie Bamber, who plays Apollo in Battlestar Galactica. (Remember him from "Horatio Hornblower"? He was Archie Kennedy.)

Ooh, your icon! Damn the man, he makes me go all wibbly...

More, please.

Oh god, yes. Please.

I just copied all thirteen eps to cd for you - I decided that was safer than dvds, since I think you'd know if your pc had a dvd drive. ;)

Next step is to find out how to copy films off dvd. And to buy some blank dvds. And if that takes too long, I'll just bung the cds in an envelope and send you the stuff in two batches.

I'm not surprised you fell for him! I've just looked at your Comic Con photos, and wow, colour me a particularly vivid shade of green... I disgraced myself and actually squeed out loud! And no, I'm not normally like this - I'm usually far more restrained in my fangirling. *g*

Some of your pictures are adorable. He's adorable. *flail* *swoon* *thud*

Or, on the lines of [livejournal.com profile] fajrdrako's Apollo icon: Just kill me and get it over with.

I want to go to Comic Con this year but of course I can't afford it. (Let alone being about to afford it and Malta too, and I'm not giving up Malta for anything. But I'm just looking into air fares - ouch!)

Anyway, that icon makes me smile and swoon every time I look at it.

Yes, thanks for the copies, thanks so much! I've been watching a friend's copies on her DVD player; it would be so much nicer to have my own.

I absolutely love the scenes between Apollo and Adama; I think it's the best father-son interplay I've ever seen on television. (The interplay between Lex Luthor and his father is equally entertaining, but the opposite end of the spectrum.)

The writers and the production values for BSG are just so extremely good.

Why, thank you! ::bows with hand onheart::

Yours makes me wibble. And melt. So I'd say we're about even. ;)

Where's Comic Con held? Not that I could possibly afford it, but... Nah, the only way I can afford the Siege is because it's happening almost literally on my doorstep!

PS I owe you email about accomodation, but I'm finding it hard to suggest/recommend places to stay. Let me think about it some more, and then I promise I'll get back to you.

You do realise my real motivation for sending you the whole series, don't you? ::grins evilly and cackles madly::

I'm not sure what I'm on this evening. Maybe someone spiked my hot chocolate. No, wait, I made it myself. Erm..?

Where's Comic Con held?

San Diego, California. I'm closer than you are - but not by much! For a few years I scraped together enough to go, but it's been a while. I have very good memories of it.

Re accommodation: thanks! any info would be helpful.

Er... no, what is your ulterior motive?

Spiking your own hot chocolate sounds like a good idea!

What was weird was that, unlike Ioan's packed panel this past year, Jamie's the year before wasn't full at all. I was easily able to grab a seat on the center aisle about four rows back, and go photo crazy. Amazing how much difference the hair color made - I think the auburn gives him an entirely different look and really brings out those gorgeous green eyes.

That sounds wonderful - ! I wish I'd seen him. I think the auburn hair is gorgeous.

Seconding the auburn hair as definitely a good look, and wondering what his real hair colour is... *g*

Heh, hope you haven't been worrying about this since yesterday!

It's only that once you have the episodes on cd, we can have gloriously obsessive discussions to our (my?) heart's content. :)

Now why do I have a feeling that any panel he's on this year is going to be packed to overflowing?

And green eyes? I thought they were blue! Well, you're the one who's seen him in person... *g*

Your photos really are gorgeous. Would you mind if I posted a link to your page on [livejournal.com profile] crumpeteers? I won't unless you say it's okay - I'm not sure how public your pages are intended to be.

VERY definitely green. One of the two prettiest pairs of green eyes I've ever seen (the second belonging to Mr. Boyd).

Oh, link away! There's a Jamie site somewhere that's using some, with my permission, and they might have more than those I posted--I never did post all of mine.

I certainly think we should!

Are there good sites for Battlestar Galactica fanfic? The current show, I mean, not the old one.

More of your pics of Jamie? Where?!

I never did post all of mine.

Would you? Please? :)
