Jan. 5th, 2005 12:57 pmLast night I went to supper at St. Hubert with my Horatio Hornblower friends. We talked about Battlestar Galactica and Fantastic Four and other wonderful topics. As usual, I loved the St. Hubert cole slaw - their creamy cole slaw is the most delicious anywhere. And to my shame, I had one of their desserts: Apple Delight, which was more sugar than anything else (least of all apples) so I now do penance and resolve to sin no more. But truthfully, I can't really really regret the Apple Delight.
I have to think of exercises I can do in my living room, without equipment. Having dropped my health club membership to save money for Malta, I thought I would use the fitness room at the apartment building, but it seems to exist no longer. In this cold and slippery weather, I can't even walk to work most of the time, let alone do extra outdoor exercise. Unless I clean up my skates and learn to skate again. Hmmm... do I have the nerve?
Suggestions welcome.
So far today: 1/2 hour of aerobics, 1/2 hour of yoga, some walking. So far so good.

How about Pilates? It seems rather trendy these days. Or get some weights (the kind you can strap onto your wrists or ankles).

Date: 2005-01-05 08:59 pm (UTC)My favourite yoga DVD is Basic Yoga for Dummies, along with Beyond Basic Yoga for Dummies. I also kind of like the Rodney Yee ones that Yoga Journal put out, but they're not quite as good.
I haven't really tried Pilates though I have a Pilates video-tape you can borrow if you like. Wieghts are good - but not in conjunction with yoga! I was doing some aerobics with weights yesterday. Kind of fun.

Date: 2005-01-06 04:20 am (UTC)I would recommend yoga over Pilates any day, if only for its historical content. But that's my thing. How can I resist a discipline that's more than two thousand years old?
