I thought that too. The person who said this began with a preamble where she explained that, at the age of eight or so, she was stopped by a teacher in the hall, who was angry to see her in the hall. She was told (in no uncertain terms) to go back to her classroom, and tried to smile ruefully at the teacher, and the teacher snapped, "Don't you smile at me!" That was when she learned that the rules of normal behaviour don't apply in schools.

I just concentrated on reading. And beating up kids who tries to take my books away.

Yeah, concentrating on reading was my tactic too. And staying home from school as much as I could.

My teacher was known to walk out of the room and leave me in charge for an hour or so in LMN-tree school (or Primrary as we'd say)
