A good but strange day...
Sep. 23rd, 2004 10:24 pmParticularly at work. I had a lot to do today. Really a lot. Before 10 a.m., luckily I got some things done. But the menw ho have been working on our phones were back, and had to turn off our computers. And our phones. At one point there were two of them standing on my desk, sticking their heads into the ceiling and dropping dust on me and my computer. With a ladder behind me and chaos around me, I fled to Bill's Room (which is where we have coffee) and did the cryptogram in the newspaper. It turned out to be a quote from someone I've met - Yousuf Karsh. Aside from a few letters and telephone calls, I only ever had one long conversation with him in person - but it is a happy memory. He was a lovely man.
Just for the heck of it, I walked from work to the yoga centre. I wanted to pick up the jacket I'd left there, and see how long it would take to walk - to see if I could leave work at 5 and still get there on time for a clasee at 6.
In a word, no. But it was close. I was there by 6:05.
Spent the evening watching Smallville again while sewing buttons on shirts, and talking to friends on the telephone. Pleasant. Not what I'd thought I should be doing, but probably better for me, to relax and have an evening that isn't overscheduled with things.
Smallville - I'm loving it right now. Let me count the ways. Even though I realized after the first viewing that "Crusade" has a central problem that I don't like - that Clark is absent until the very end. To my mind, Kal-El doesn't count, though he is decorative.
It just proves I can even enjoy an episode that doesn't feature Clark. But I'm glad to have him back - again.
And oh, those Luthors.
