Tribute to Kaylee....
Sep. 10th, 2004 09:23 pmUsually I wake up exactly when I plan to, when I sleep. Consistently I set my alarm for, say, 7 a.m.and consistently I wake up at 6.59 a.m. This is so realiable that I don't even usually bother to set my alarm.
Lately this special power has been failing me. Last week when I meant to get up at 5.45 for a yoga class at 6.30, I woke up at 6.29 - not quite enough lead time in my mental conditioning.
This morning, I meant to wake up at seven. I have to leave at 8 to get to work on time at 9. For some reason I slept soundly past seven; past seven-thirty... and at 7.48 I woke up to a loud chirp from Kaylee, so loud it woke me through my bedroom wall, my closed door and the coverings on her cage. She left it till practically the last moment, but thanks to that wonderful little budgie I got up and got to work on time. If not for her, goodness knows how long I would have slept.
Budgies always have a good sense of time.
