Just read this great quote from Michael Rosenbaum on corinna_5's LJ:

Q: There's certain fans who see a gay subtext in all those long, intense gazes between Lex and Clark. What do you make of that?

Michael Rosenbaum: [Laughs] I love it. In fact, if there's a line where I look at Clark and I say [with intense gaze], ''If you need me, I'm there,'' we laugh our asses off. It takes us 10 takes to get it out. Let the audience think what they want to think. If they watch the show, they have their own views on which way it's gonna go, and I love that. I don't want to give the answers away, because the answers lie in their minds.

That is so cool.

It also sounds like the kind of answers Dorothy Dunnett gives readers who come up with interpretations and reinterpretations of what happened in her books: that it's their story too, to make of whatever they will.

That's the attitude everyone should have.

As for Michael Rosenbaum, isn't it great that he doesn't feel the need to act homophobic?

Michael Rosenbaum is an amazing man. Those aren't just stock answers either, he says it like he really means it. He could deny it outright like some producers have, or off-handedly like others, but he doesn't. I love this about Michael. Absolutely love.

Yes. He speaks for himself, and very well too. He not only does and says everything that is necessary, he does it a little better than it needs to be done. Spontaneously, too.

Impressive as well as sexy. Wow.

I have to admire the man for being so playful and open with the subtext.

AND I feel we've been completely vindicated in believing that those intense gazes were more than they needed to be script-wise. Now I can only conclude that the director/producers told them to 'cool it' because the gazes have lost several magnitudes of intensity.

Awwwww... meanie M&G are spoiling the boys' fun.

I think they're having fun with the fans and the audiences, and getting their own ways of playing with it. I don't think MR likes the Helen business, though.

Yeah, the chemistry between them is just... zero. And when you realise that he's deliberately playing up the looks between Lex and Clark, then you know, his not having *any* chemistry with Helen? That has to be deliberate, you know?

It certainly looks deliberate with me. He can turn on the sex and charm like a tap. He doesn't do it with Helen. He kisses her at arm's length, or a peck on the cheek. He hugs Clark more convincingly!

I love the way he is too! He is nice and comfortable about everything and even in his sexuality--which is what makes him even sexier! It also makes him too cool for words! I love the sense of humor he has about Clex--it's the way thing should be for everyone involved with the show! *hint hint, TPTB!!!*
