A nice day, a busy day. It started with coffee and french toast at [livejournal.com profile] maboroshimaki's place; she who never, ever cooks made french toast! and it was very good, too. We watched Siskel and Ebert (who showed clips from Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azakaban, to our delight) and we watched Coronation Street to see Nick get a kiss from his friend. Too bad Nick didn't like it.

Then I dashed off to the Yang-tse restaurant on Somerset St. and we had dim sum - [livejournal.com profile] walkingowl who arrived from Pennsylvania yesterday, Harry, Beulah, Lionel, Donna and me. Delicious. I ate so much i had no room left for the fried squid that eventually came around - usually my favourite dish. I did have ginger squid, and a lovely fried thing with seaweed and shrimp. Donna impressed me by knowing the names of the dishes, which I never remember.

Next: a visit to the Silver Snail comic book shop on Bank St. where I ran into Janet, and we talked about comics. I gave into temptation and bought Batman: No Man's Land, vol. 2 and issue #3 of Marvel Knights 4, which I've been wanting to try.

Then Donna, [livejournal.com profile] walkingowl and I went back to my place and watched the Smallville episode Covenant, which [livejournal.com profile] walkingowl hadn't seen. I think Donna and I enjoyed it more than [livejournal.com profile] walkingowl, and as much as we had on first viewing. It's brilliant - even better the second time round.

Next, we went to Tasia's place to play Scrabble. I started the games on a high note with a bingo, followed immediately by another bingo from Donna. Alas, I lost each game to her, by a small margin - we were neck and neck all the way. My best word was probably "stodgy", though "scorned" was rather satisfying. Donna's best was "sequins".

After a hamburger dinner, we watched Tasia and David's video of their recent trip to Australia. Sydney, Perth, the Blue Mountains, Darwin - lots of flora and strange looking fauna.
