The Fannish Friday Five
May. 28th, 2004 07:43 pmFrom The Fannish Friday Five for today:
1. What was the latest animated movie you've seen? Did you like it?
Shrek, which I had seen before. I liked it but it isn't a big favourite. A nice, relaxing, low-effort movie.
2. What is your all time favorite animated film?
The Iron Giant
3. Which animated film would you be most willing to buy or see as a re-release in the theatre?
The Iron Giant. I'd like to see more Japanese animation in theatres - the only one I've ever actually seen in a theatre was Akira, and I didn't like it at all. I've seen a few of the Disney animated movies in theatres and might be willing to buy one or return to see it - though it wouldn't be very high priority. What I'd really like to see would be the new Spider-Man animated TV show as a DVD or theatrical release. I'd be there in a shot. I love it..
4. What is your favorite animated film soundtrack?
Pocohantas, probably.
5. What animated films do you read or write?
Fanfic? None. Animation just doesn't really interst me enough as a medium to get that heavily into it. Sometimes I like it for the art, but I almost always dislike the voices - way too mannered and overdone. There are animations I want to love - TV animated adaptations of comic books, for example - but much as I love the characters, the voices are always a problem. The Japanese films are even worse than the American for the voices. The only exceptions I can think of to this, and they are only partially exceptions, are The Iron Giant and Spider-Man, which I think are uperior to almost any other animated films I've seen - the one for its story, the other for story. movement and art.
