While working on housework here (or pretending to) I am listening to Beethoven's Fidelio. I love it, but it's strange. They keep breaking into speech. In German.

I have discovered also that little budgies love arias, the higher and louder the better. They love to sing along. What a noise!

Yeah y'know I just love that. It's like SINGSINGSING (stop) "Hans! Wo ist deine schpringenwerken?" (Laughter) "Du bist ein dachshund, Marietta. Ich keine schpringenwerken gehabt und du bist geknowning it." SINGSINGSING

ALways makes me giggle. And Caddy likes classical music, too, but doesn't sing along. He's not nuts about rock, though.

LOL. Yes. It took me by surprise. Wonderful music, though. (As if I should be surprised by that.)

The little guys tend to like loud sounds of any sort but their favourite things seem to be cannonfire and opera.

It's cute to watch. I play Horatio Hornblower movies and they love it when Horatio (or Bush) shouts "Fiii-ah!" and the cannons go BOOM and they chirp and dance. Go figure.

Clearly they were British seamen in their past lives.

Kaylee, Pryde, Simon and Domino probably were. Wisdom must have been a pirate's parrot. She's way too independent for the British Navy.

If you hear a tiny "Arrrrrr" coming from her cage you'll know for sure.

Oh damn, I missed a really obvious Horatio Hornbill joke there.

No, no, you didn't *miss* it. You kindly spared me. So thoughtful of you.

my mom used to have a parakeet that enjoyed mozart's the magic flute.

the Queen of the Night's arias oughta get the budgies going-- lots of high notes.

:-)

flute concertos also seem to please parakeets.

I'll have to try a few flute concertos and see how they react. I haven't tried them on Mozart yet - but it's just about time for that, in the next week or two.
