The Incredible Hulk....
Mar. 15th, 2004 09:56 pmI don't, as a rule, read The Incredible Hulk. I always quite liked Bruce Banner but the Hulk was bore and the stories didn't do much for me.
So after a lifetime of not reading The Incredible Hulk, today I read the graphic novel, The Incredible Hulk: Return of the Monster by Bruce Jones and John Romita, Jr.
It was damn good.
The plot was quite amazing. It had excellent characterization, giving me a new look at characters I'd read before, but which had never seemed so real. It was convincing, plausible, suspenseful - and the plot and cahracters tied together with a click so surprising and delightful that I thought: Why can't more stories do this?
It seems to warrant continuation. I'll have to see if there's a sequel.
Once upon a time I thought John Romita, Jr., was a boring artist. Now he draws like a European. I've liked his work ever since his Cable miniseries. Now... more than ever.
