A few weeks ago I was chatting with a friend and the subject of Myers-Briggs personality typing came up. She said she was ESTJ (IIRC) and I said I was INTP. She was surprised. "I didn't think you'd be a P," she said. "Every P I've ever known was a procrastinator."

I was so pleased that over many years of knowing me she hadn't recognized me as a procrastinator.

One of the things I have been procrastinating on was finishing writing up my interview with Jack Whyte. No, I'm not past deadline. Yes, I had good reasons for not getting it done before. But... I finished it tonight and feel happy with it. Such an interesting man, with attitudes like my own.

Today feels like three days in one. (Funny, a lot of days have been like that lately.) First era: work. Busy. Things happening. Things happening and overlapping and the phone ringing constantly just as if the world didn't know that I was trying to get the March Break Drama Camp flyers out and into the mail today. Which I did, by the skin of my teeth, mailing them as I rushed to the bus to got to my yoga class.

Second era: Reading Sting's book Broken Music at lunchtime. What a beautifully written book. I don't want to put it down. Smart, insightful, evocative and yet simply written. That man is a stylist. I should have guessed from his lyrics. And he loves books:
I will never throw a book away, storing dog-eared paperbacks from school or college, year after year, stacked like hunting trophies on makeshift shelves in my rooms. For to sit in a room full of books, and remember the stories they told you, and to know precisely where each one is located and what was happening in your life at that time or where you were when you first read it is the languid and distilled pleasure of the connoisseur.

Third era: yoga. I needed that. A total unwinding. It wasn't an easy class, but afterwards I felt like a new and better woman.

Third era: catching up on things at home, including the Whyte interview.
