Viggo Mortensen

I listened to an interesting (and characteristic) interview with Viggo Mortensen tonight, at 190 North. Mostly about Hidalgo. My favourite bits: talking about The Lord of the Rings he said, "People feel that we did a decent job." Beautiful understatement.

He talked about the outrageous stories the tabloids print about him having mythical affairs with women he never met; what, I thought, only the women? (I confess, I'm paraphrasing a line from Queen's Play here.) He pictured his son asking, "Why're you shacking up with all these weird ladies, Dad?"

Well, I've had mythical affairs with men I've never met, too :-)

Yeah - and I've written about people having mythical affairs with people who don't exist in the first place. I see nothing wrong with that!
