A snow-filled day, with comics...
Dec. 29th, 2011 11:29 pmI had a list of things I wanted to get done before the end of the year - some of them I thought were realistic, some weren't. One of the things I thought unlikely, was clearing out the mess in my bedroom. I'd been letting it go for a while... and then added the debris of Christmas wrap, boxes, and, well, stuff.
Yesterday I attacked it.
Today I got it done. I am mighty! I am just so pleased. I really didn't think I could do it all in two days. And to be honest, there are still a few things to finish off - taking computer boxes down to my locker or the recycling containers, filing a bag of papers that came out of the file cabinet I discarded back in the summer - I suspect a good part of that will go to recycling too, but I won't know till I look at it. I now have things stored in sensible labelled boxes, all my books are on shelves (many sorted by subject), new pictures are hung...
And, yes, there are other things on my "to do" list but that was the scariest. That, and cleaning under the dishwasher. I still haven't figured out how to do that.
Other events du jour:
- Had a visit from Lisa and Lynne, and a good talk.
- Met
fairestcat at the Silver Snail, picked up a bunch of comics, and browsed - they're having their big post-Christmas sale, but sadly, my budget is so pinched that a graphic novel that's 30% off is still too much for me. Afterwards,
fairestcat and I went to Bridgehead for London Fogs and soup (tomato and fennel) and talked about the comics coming up in Marvel Previews. I love the cover art on Avengers: Hawkeye - Solo TPB - I wonder if I could somehow get a copy of it?
- It was very cold. I went home via the Metro and bought vegetables. Walking home, I was pleased by how I was having no trouble walking - it was very cold and snowy, but there was no sleet or freezing rain, and no reason to feel paranoid.
- Watched some old Hollywood musicals of the 1930s on TV with Pim, Ysolde, and
maaseru.
- Played Gardens of Time again. Fun! Managed to figure out how to star to decorate my garden.
- Framed and hung the dragon picture I got for Christmas from Sheila. It's Smaug, of course - I know that from the Dwarvish letters at the top of the picture. He was the second dragon I got this Christmas; I also got one from
fairestcat,
rayndaze,
random and
commodorified - with the latter as the ringleader. He's a stuffed one from Ikea and he looks like this:
His name is Smog. He's suitable for watching TV with (Especially Game of Thrones, and I figure that if any flies or ants try to infest my apartment, he'll take care of it.
