Fantastic Four was once my favourite comic. Mind you, I was ten years old at the time. It's the comic that hooked me on Marvel.
As decades went by, I lost interest. I've always loved the characters. But the stories were lacklustre, unoriginal, puerile.
My interest revived because of the crossover stories that featured Daken with the Fantastic Four, and then the much-publicized death of Johnny Storm. So I picked up the first issue of the successor comic,
FF, and while I didn't exactly love it, I liked it enough to buy the next issue - mostly because of the inclusion of Spider-Man. Even though he has a strange white costume (was that necessary?) his dialogue is good.
I really, really hoped this comic was going to turn into something good. I hoped I'd be wanting to read it again.
Then I read
issue #2.
Stupid.
So much for getting my hopes up.
