A good day for a lot of reasons - including the nice mild above-freezing weather.
- Lunched with
maaseru at Tim Horton's. Ordered the turkey sandwich, and it was good, except for the honey-mustard. Note to self: next time, ask them to leave it off.
- Went to the Eye institute with
maaseru and enjoyed talking with the gentleman selling glasses there - possibly the manager? He was very knowledgeable about frames and their design, telling me what countries the various brands come from, and how styles are different in Europe.
- Was congested, with runny eyes - wondered why until I realized that the warm weather was causing snow-melt which was releasing mould and triggering my allergies. So I took an antihistamine and felt much better afterwards.
- Knitted and watched The Cape with
lunacy_gal. Enjoyed it muchly.
- I had feared there was something wrong with my sewing machine - not really mine, I borrowed it. And it's a more modern model than I'm used to.
lunacy_gal took a look at it, saw I was threading it wrong, and showed me how to do it properly. So that's what the U-turn arrow was for! I am happy. Now I can sew.
- Got a phone call that might be a nudge towards a job I really, really want. They're phoning me on Tuesday, since Monday is a holiday. Oh, I hope, I hope!
- Walked along the Rideau Canal with
luncacy_gal; a beautiful evening. ( I took a few photos. )
- Shopped on Main Street, where I was able to buy coconut flour - they were all sold out at the Natural Food Pantry yesterday. Browsed Tarot cards and books at Singing Pebbles. Bought a hat at 3 Trees - really, the hat of my dreams: I've been looking for one all winter. On sale, too.
-
maaseru and I had a lovely meal at The Green Door. I even treated myself to a piece of apple pie. They heated it up for me and delivered it to the table - delicious!
- Walking home was a little problematic, since it was dark then, and the temperature fell below freezing. All those puddly sidewalks were getting icy, but it was impossible to tell visually what parts of the pavement were icy and which were just wet. Still: I walked slowly but confidently and got home just fine.
The Mighty Odinson...
Feb. 18th, 2011 10:15 pmI just watched the Thor movie trailer. It made me laugh out loud. Twice. That's got to be good for something. Argard looks good. Odin (is that Odin?) looks Gondorian. The monsters look hokey, but that's okay, monsters always look hokey to me.
Though Chris Hemsworth looks fine as Thor - I can't imagine better - it was the glimpse of Tom Hiddleston as Loki that really excited me. Am I a pervert, or what?
I haven't wanted to go to 3D movies, but this one might be fun.
