Double Falsehood... Is this for real?
Jan. 20th, 2011 10:52 amInformation about Double Falsehood, a newly-discovered play written, or co-written, by Shakespeare. Or is it? Seems it's sort of a rewrite of Cardenio, which would explain why Hammond sees "Shakespeare's hand" in about half of it, but no more than that. It also seems to be the conclusion and brainchild of one scholar - I'd like to hear a few more Shakespeare scholars talk about it.
I like the title. I'd like to see it.
It's also a kick to hear about a new play by John Fletcher, since I was hanging out at his place in Rye back in October.
This article says they'll be performing it in Statford-on-Avon next summer. Okay, if I win a lottery... or get an income... whichever comes first.
The CBC has an item about it.
Castle and White Collar...
Jan. 20th, 2011 09:19 pmSaw Castle episode 3x12, "Poof! You're Dead". I tend to enjoy stories about magicians - well, not The Prestige, but most of them. ( This one was fun... )
Also saw White Collar after it's long hiatus - well, it felt long to me. 2x10. "Burke's Seven" - great title, lovely idea. ( Particularly liked... )
Magazines...

for January 20, 2011: Even I read things other than books from time to time … like, Magazines! What magazines/journals do you read?Generally speaking, I think magazines are poor value for money compared to books, but I have my weaknesses. I love:
- Magazines about my favourite fandoms - Wizard, Comic Heroes, Doctor Who, Torchwood, SFX. I find the British magazines better than the American, because they have more full-page photos, and I like to frame these for my bathroom wall - which currently has pictures of the Ninth Doctor with Rose, the Tenth Doctor, Daken, and two of Methos.
- Science magazines like New Science and Scientific American.
- Domestic magazines like Woman's Day, Family Circle, Better Homes and Gardens. And magazines with good recipes.
- Magazines with interesting photography and beautiful women, like Glamour, Elle, Vogue and Vanity Fair.
- National Geographic, when it has historical and archeological articles, or articles about pandas, or somewhere that interests me.
- Esperanto magazines.
- Magazines about yoga.
There's a pattern here - I like magazines about things which interest me. Next I'll be getting magazines about knitting, just wait and see.
