Identification with characters...
Aug. 5th, 2010 09:46 pmDay 15 - A character who you can relate to the most
There are many characters I relate to in books, tv shows, and comics. It's surprisingly hard to think of characters in movies. I relate more, for example, to the Serenity crew in the TV show than in the movie. And attributes that tend to make me relate - besides general herism and being likable - are usually missing. The only bisexual characters I can think of in movies are trivialized, villainous, or weirdos. And women in movies are often much less than I would want to be - less intelligent, less heroic. Too bad there hasn't been a movie about Captain Jack Harkness.
There's Scout in To Kill a Mockingbird. There's Aragorn in The Lord of the Rings. Both based on books.
And Mary Shelley in Haunted Summer - not so much because I related to her in that movie, but because I do in general.
For the first time since smashing my elbow, I had people over for dinner and made the dinner myself. My friends have been good about bringing food to me, or ordering food delivered. It was a simple meal - cold sliced ham, smoked meat heated in the microwave, potato chips, edamame salad, mixed salad, a baguette, crackers, and Brie. For dessert I had frsh cherries and chocolate pieces, and Tasia brought French vanilla ice cream.
We watched the TV show BBC Paris, because the people visiting me were three of the five I'll be rooming in Paris with.
We all want to see the Bayeux Tapestry - the Rug of Lisette, as

I also really want to see what remains of Chateau Gaillard - I hope it's possible.
